A newspaper from Fukui, Japan reported on June 30 that housewife Yoko Kaneko, who lived in Niigata-ken was detained by Beijing Police because she protested against the persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing, China. In order to have Yoko safely return home, fifteen members of the Association for Rescuing Yoko Kaneko in Tokyo were passing out flyers in front of Fukui City's state-owned train station on June 29, 2003. At the beginning of June, this association submitted appeal letters to the local county government, and every city, province, region, and county government. Meanwhile they have collected signatures on a petition.
