A well-known Taiwanese scholar on the open economy, Wu Huilin, who is a member of the Chinese Institute of Economics and Business in Taiwan and the secretary of the Chinese Human Rights Association, talked about bringing Jiang to justice and many current problems in China that are related to free-trade and human rights. Professor Wu pointed out that China must follow the example set by the rest of the world, move towards freedom, and have an open market economy in order to keep up with the global trend. He thinks that Falun Dafa practitioners bringing Jiang to justice is a good thing for China and the world, because the international community can put pressure on China and help awaken the Chinese people. He believes that this will help China move towards an open market economy.

The following is an excerpt from the article "Establishing Quality, Placing Emphasis on the Content, Editing and Distribution of Our Truth Clarifying Materials."
We often see some ordinary people, especially some who are not hostile towards Dafa, become resistant because they do not understand the supernormal or prophetic content of our truth clarifying materials. We should pay attention to this phenomenon. We should consider if ordinary people can accept and understand our materials, and we should not pursue a change of our content or quantity alone. We should focus on quality. For instance, we should combine these kinds of materials with some more readily understandable stories and add more editorials to help readers reach good understandings more easily. People who distribute the materials should read them first. They do not have to distribute the materials if they find that the content is inappropriate. If this happens, they should provide feedback to the writers in a timely fashion. This is being responsible to the sentient beings. It is not simply that the more we distribute the better. We should put emphasis on the effects of the materials.
News from China
I received a phone call from a fellow practitioner from Taiwan. She explained several points about the SARS epidemic, talked about the persecution in China and told me about how Dafa is spreading in Taiwan and the rest of the world. She told me that overseas practitioners are bringing Jiang to justice in court. She ended her call with a suggestion that I practice Falun Dafa to help combat SARS. Her friendly talk was very simple, but naturally effective. I realized that Master was using this to help me experience how diligent overseas Dafa disciples are and to experience the whole picture of Fa-rectification. Through this, I could also see my shortcomings and attachments, and I feel that I should improve.

Over several months, a group of independent scholars analyzed tens of thousands of statements and signatures about Article 23. They found that some of the statements in support of the legislation were actually a result of the government's manipulation, including the way that the Hanhua Middle School submitted 67 high school students' essays as statements of support, and the government accepted them all. The head of this group Chen Suchuan, a lecturer in the Statistics and Accounting Department of Hong Kong University, said that if you take into account the tens of thousands of signatures, 62.6% oppose Article 23. Associate Professor Chen Chienmin of the Sociology Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong criticized the government, asking how they could doubt these tens of thousands of signatures opposing article 23, while counting high school student's writing assignments. He reminded the government that they should not play with people's hearts.
