(Clearwisdom.net) Not long ago, a medium sized newspaper in the city where I live in Canada reprinted a number of articles from China vilifying Falun Gong. I immediately realized that I must clarify the facts to the reporter, but I did not know where to start, and who should be doing it? I thought of what Teacher said in "To All Students at the Nordic Fa Conference":
"in clarifying the truth, don't wait, don't rely on others, and don't just hope for changes in external factors."
After discussing with fellow practitioners, I decided to perform the task by myself.
My command of the English language is limited. I applied for leave for a day from my supervisor. As I did not want to be misunderstood because of my difficulty in communicating in English, I decided to make the visit without a prior appointment with the reporter. That day, I prepared English materials to clarify the truth and a six minute English edition of the self-immolation video to take with me to the newspaper office.
On the way I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate any interference from other dimensions. When I arrived at the newspaper office and explained the purpose of my visit, the receptionist and all the workers at the office treated me with warmth. They quickly found a reporter to talk to me. After the normal salutations, I explained the purpose of my visit and requested that we view the video together (he gave me twenty minutes for the meeting). We went to the video projection room to view the self-immolation analysis video. After about three minutes I gave a sigh of relief and thought that the day had progressed well. At that juncture the machine stopped showing the video. I immediately realized that I must maintain righteous thoughts. Though the video show could not continue, I began to clarify the truth to the reporter. Finally, he mentioned that he had an assignment that would take him away for two weeks and that he could only write the article after that. I respectfully left the interview but did not accept the "arrangement".
Later, I received his email saying that they would come to our practice site to interview us on a weekday. They suddenly paid us a visit one day ahead of the appointed date. I was in another city to introduce the Fa to the public. Coincidentally, there was another practitioner who was also going to another city to introduce the Fa to the public. His command of the English language was better than mine. He decided not to go and stayed back to practice the exercises and had the opportunity to be interviewed. The interview concluded smoothly. Following that, the newspaper published a whole large page of the facts of Falun Gong.
I would like to revisit with my fellow practitioners a portion of "Lecturing on and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference":
"Question: How can we apply the Fa principles that Master has taught us and not be limited by the confinement caused by our attachments, and be able to harmonize everything from all sides and become even more diligent as we make progress during the final stage of Fa-rectification? Also, on the issues of doing things for Dafa and understanding Fa principles, how can we ensure that we don't focus on just one angle and be able to harmonize everything from all sides?
"Teacher: Sometimes when you folks consider an issue you've formed a type of habit-'I want to do such and such thing... here's how I'm going to do this thing... here's how I'm going to do that thing.' You think it over to the point that you feel you've covered everything in a satisfactory way. But when it comes to actually doing it, the real, actual situations are always ever changing and you will see that it turns out it doesn't work (laughs). And since it doesn't work, you start to think it over again. But that's not how you should do things. Have righteous thoughts. If you think that you should do things in such and such way, then go ahead and do that. When you encounter problems you will naturally know how to solve them. If your righteous thoughts are strong, everything will work out smoothly and it's guaranteed you'll do well.
"Why do I tell everyone to do things this way? It seems passive, right? But that's not true, because the side of you that's been successfully cultivated knows everything. No matter how you do it, it will work. No matter how you do those things you'll be able to do them well. So it's sufficient for you to just have this one idea. Once you know what to do, you should just go ahead and do it, and while you do it your wisdom will continually come forth. That's because at that time the side of you that's been successfully cultivated will fuse together with the you on this side, and you know, everything about it is God-like and omnipotent. That little thing you're doing will certainly be resolved in no time, your wisdom will come forth, and it'll be completely different. And if you get to a stuck point Master will give you wisdom (laughs). (Applause)"
