(Clearwisdom.Net) From February 3 to February 16, 2003, thirteen people were robbed and murdered in Wuji County, Gaocheng City, Hebei Province. An atmosphere of terror permeated the community.
Some corrupt provincial officials decided to frame Falun Gong blaming practitioners for the crimes to deceive the public. They cooked up rumors that made a farfetched connection between the serial murders and Falun Gong to incite public hatred against Falun Gong. In addition, they ordered the local and suburb schools to circulate the lies to students and pupils, even to first grade children. It resulted in an extremely vile situation.
The falsehood misled part of the population for a little while, but many people recognized the regime's lies and disregarded the vicious propaganda. One day while passengers on a bus discussed the murders, a man spoke out. He said, "I just came from the city police department. My relative that works there told me that the murderer was from the Northeast of China and has nothing to do with Falun Gong!" When people asked him whether he was a Falun Gong practitioner, he replied with firm eye contact and a steady tone, "I am not practicing Falun Gong, but it is a lie to claim that Falun Gong is involved in the homicides." Those who had been deceived were left without an argument.
The Lie is Exposed
Around March 8, 2003, the local TV station and newspaper reported that the police arrested the murderer, Liu Jingren, in Jilin Province and escorted him back to Shijiazhuang City. This fact opened people's eyes. The attempt to frame Falun Gong with the bloody homicide case became obvious.
