(Clearwisdom. net) On March 14, 2003, Falun Dafa Practitioners in Ohio held a press conference in front of Cincinnati City Hall to help rescue Charles Li. The leaders of two nongovernmental organizations attended the conference and gave speeches denouncing the acts of the Chinese regime, appealing to the US government to help rescue Charles Li. Ohio Congressman Steve Chabot sent a letter expressing that he will continue supporting the effort of rescuing the Falun Gong practitioners who are detained in China.
Practitioners explained the situation of Charles Li and his illegal detainment in China, and exposed the Chinese regime's cruel suppression, torture, and crimes against Falun Gong practitioners over the last three years. One practitioner told the story of her good friend, Mr. Lin Chengtao, who was tortured badly in a Chinese prison for his unwilling to give up his cultivation of Falun Gong, and thus became mentally unbalanced and lost his ability to take care of himself. She expressed worries about Charles's situation and hoped that more kind-hearted people come to help secure Charles Li's release and return to America as early as possible.
Reporters from CityBeat in Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati campus newspaper, and Television Station Channel 9 (ABC) came and made detailed notes about this press conference. The kindhearted reporters were moved after listening to stories of Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured in the Chinese prisons. They asked how they could help.
This press conference made us even more realize the importance of clarifying the facts to the US government and media. We need to continue to make deeper and widespread effort with purer hearts in clarifying the truth to people from all walks of life.
