Falun Dafa practitioner Qionghua (not her real name) was betrayed by a collaborator [a Former Falun Gong practitioner who had gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] and was kidnapped at a Dafa material site on March 12, 2002. The police from Liaoyuan city, Jilin province took her to the Longshan branch of the Police Department, where they tortured her cruelly and inhumanely.
The police were relentless, rotating every four hours (six shifts in 24 hours), watching over her and prohibiting her from eating, drinking, sleeping, or using the washroom. At the beginning, the police beat her across the mouth with a book until her face turned blue and the book fell apart. She refused to say a word and sent righteous thoughts the whole time in her mind.
The police forced her to sit on the "tiger bench" [Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit with their backs straight and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force them to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse]. Later, they discovered their torture methods did not work. She clarified the truth to them, but did not tell them a word about the things they wanted to know. Then the police shocked her with an electric baton, but it did not work on her since she continued sending forth righteous thoughts. So they used another higher voltage electric baton that was more powerful and could cause more pain. She told herself not to be afraid and not to leave loopholes for the evil. This electric baton did not work either. The police were shocked. They changed to another method. They put very thin needles in her ten fingers and in the area around her neck. These needles are extremely thin and leave no marks on the skin but they can cause intolerable pain. However, Dafa practitioner Qionghua did not yield.
Then the evil police changed to even another method, as they could not reach their goal. They took the only 60 Yuan away from her that she had and bought some cigarettes. They lit the cigarettes and put them in her nose. Then they lit many more cigarettes and put them in an ashtray. They put a flowerpot on Qionghua's head with the ashtray inside to make her choke on the smoke. Usually a person could suffocate under these conditions. Qionghua kept on sending forth righteous thoughts. Then the flowerpot cracked open with a cracking sound. The evil police used a plastic bag and put it on her head. She still did not yield. The whole time she was handcuffed so tight that the cuffs penetrated into her flesh. They left deep scars.
The evil police went on torturing her like this day and night and unlocked the handcuffs on the sixth day. They pretended to be compassionate, as they did not get any results from their brutal methods. But she still refused to say anything. Instead, she clarified the truth to them whenever possible. They became enraged and threatened her, "We will take you back to the branch bureau if you don't tell us anything." She kept thinking to herself, "What you say does not count. Only what Teacher says counts." Then they tried to force her to give her signature and fingerprints, but she refused resolutely.
She made it through on the sixth day uprightly with her solid and steadfast belief in Teacher and Dafa and after five days and nights of torture. One of the police supervisors said, "You are so great. This is the first time I've been defeated after working here for so many years."
