(Clearwisdom.net) Representatives from the Canadian Committee to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners met with officials from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Toronto at 10:00 a.m. on January 28, 2003. They urged the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government to take measures to protect overseas Hong Kong residents and take immediate action to rescue Chan Wing-Yuen, an elderly permanent resident of Hong Kong who was illegally arrested by the Myanmar government and detained for over a year.
Falun Gong representatives briefed the officials about this incident and pointed out that this incident is the result of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar's direct involvement in order to persecute overseas Falun Gong practitioners.
Falun Gong representatives also introduced to the officials the cases of another three Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners Chu Ol Ming, Cheung Yu Cheong, and Sun Zung Man, who are still detained in China.
Practitioners passed to the officials a letter from the Canadian Committee to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners to forward to Mr. Tung Chee-hwa [Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government], and they agreed to give the letters to the Hong Kong government.
