Facts of the Persecution

1) Between 5 pm and 7 pm on December 7, 2003, the authorities in Xiongyue Town of Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, suddenly broke into the homes of Falun Gong practitioners and abducted them. Currently seven Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested: Bai Fenglian, Li Fengzhen, Li Fengzhi, Sun Zhicheng, Ning Li, Zhao Yingpeng, and Jiang Qing. They have been sent to the Yingkou City Forced Labor Camp and subjected to brainwashing.

2) Recently the authorities in Changchun City, Jilin Province carried out a new round of persecution against academics at universities. The leaders of the province ordered the Party organizations of each university and college to organize "training" for those responsible for forcing Falun Gong practitioners into renouncing their belief. Any Falun Gong practitioner who does not write a letter denouncing Falun Gong will be expelled from school or dismissed from his or her job.

3) The "610 Office" and its associated brainwashing class, police station and neighborhood committee in Dongshan Area, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province illegally conducted home searching, kidnapping, detaining, brainwashing, monitoring and torturing of many local Falun Gong practitioners. They were attempting to force practitioners to give up their beliefs. The brainwashing class adopted both mental and and physical torture, attacking Falun Gong practitioners 24 hours a day, not allowing them to sleep, forcing them to watch videos, TV programs and listen to programs that defame Falun Gong, in addition to having former practitioners who renounced their belief under pressure try to confuse them by twisting their belief and debating with them. Those Falun Gong practitioners who will not renounce their belief are then physically tortured, including not being allowed to sleep for 8-9 days. The authorities also broadcast materials slandering Falun Gong at high volume to damage the hearing of practitioners.

On November 16, 2003, Zhao Changjiang, Vice Chairman of Chezhan Street Police Station of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, together with one male and one female coworker, coaxed Falun Gong practitioner Xu Fuzhen into going out while she was looking after her 93-year old mother, who is handicapped at home. The vicious people then sent Xu Fuzhen to a brainwashing session against her will.
