From Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Patrick Falby reported the following for Voice of America (VOA):

"A United Nations delegation has arrived in Cambodia for a week-long mission to work out details for setting up a genocide tribunal for leaders of the Khmer Rouge regime. The head of the delegation says tribunal proceedings will likely start next year.

"The coordinator of a United Nations delegation, Karsten Herrel, said his mission in Cambodia will be 'absolutely essential' in persuading aid donors that a joint genocide tribunal for the leaders of the Khmer Rouge will be worthwhile. His five-member delegation arrived Sunday to determine the technical aspects of setting up the tribunal, such as a schedule, costs and facilities. Mr. Herrel says that the long-awaited trials will be 'a very complex undertaking,' and probably will begin in 2004.

"The tribunal is intended to bring to justice the surviving leaders of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime. Their late 1970s rule led to the deaths of more than one million people by execution, starvation, disease and overwork. The delegation plans to speak with the Cambodian government's tribunal taskforce, government ministers, private organizations and representatives from countries interested in funding the tribunal. Mr. Herrel said that in early February, the United Nations will give an update on the progress in setting up the tribunal and appeal to member states for money to run it."

The above news report from the VOA allowed me to think of the Chinese dictator Jiang and his regime, which have been brutally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. During the past four years, the persecution launched by Jiang has resulted in the deaths of at least 831 innocent Falun Gong practitioners, many of whom were tortured to death. At the same time, this persecution has brought tragedy to millions of families. Although Jiang persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in the name of the government, he could not truly represent the Chinese Government because he is nothing more than an evil dictator abusing his power and killing innocent people. He is a murderer that should be held accountable for his crimes and brought to justice.

Today Wen Jiabao arrived in New York to begin his visit to the United States. Falun Gong practitioners in New York are asking that Jiang be held accountable for his crimes while they welcome Wen Jiabao to the United States. The United Nations has begun arrangements for the trial of the Khmer Rouge regime's former leaders by setting up the special tribunal court. Jiang, who persecutes, devastates and kills Falun Gong practitioners, must also be punished in the same way.
