Facts of the Persecution

Police officers brutally torture Falun Dafa practitioners in the Daxing County Distribution Station, where practitioners are detained first before being sent to detention centers. They hit practitioners in the face, force practitioners to squat for long periods of time, or do the "Flying the Airplane"* torture posture for long periods. They grab practitioners' heads and then hit them against the wall. They force-feed practitioners, and tie practitioners to beds in a spread-eagle position for long periods of time. Practitioners even have to relieve themselves on the bed. One practitioner was tied up to a bed like this for more than a month. Some practitioners have been tortured until they are on the verge of death.

Falun Dafa practitioner He Jingming was a retired Assistant Statistician who lived in Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province. She was turned in to the police. On March 29, 2002, police illegally searched her home, abducted her, and brought her to a "610 Office"**, where she was kept for six days straight. She was unlawfully sent to the No.37 Detention Center on April 3, 2002. Now her whole body feels numb, and she cannot move due to the long term torture. Her daughter Wang Heqin is also a practitioner. Wang Heqin was taken away by police on the same day. At midnight, Wang Heqin could not bear the mental torture any longer. She wrote a "Guarantee Statement" that announced her intention to give up Falun Gong, and was then allowed to go home. Her school, however, dismissed her from her position as a homeroom teacher.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Hongwei was unlawfully arrested by Fangshan District police on January 20, 2001 because he made truth-clarifying materials, and was sentenced to 13 years of prison. He was later transferred from the Fangshan Detention Center to Tiebei Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Province. He refused to cooperate with the persecution and went on hunger strike to protest. He was transferred again to the Jilin Provincial Prison, where he was beaten several times. His relative visited him and saw two scars on his head. Prisoners had to aid him when he walked out, and he now walks with a limp.

Cases of Falun Dafa Practitioners Being Tortured in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province

Falun Dafa practitioners Xu Guangxia and Zhang Shuping are both former employees of the Petroleum Refinery in Shijiazhuang City. They both were abducted by the Refinery station police on October 24, 2003. On October 25, they were both sent to the No.1 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, He Jinmei used to be an employee of the Eastern Shopping Center in Shijiazhuang City. Her employer forced her to choose between her job and her beliefs. She was forced to lose her job. Her husband, also a Dafa disciple, Li Xiangdong was arrested after July 20, 1999, and was temporarily detained in a nearby prison. He maintained his righteous thoughts and wrote the following poem:

"It is nothing if you chop off my head,

If we have Zhuan Falun it can be said,

It is a single death, and from it is now shed,

The light of compassion by which others are led."

He Jinmei and Li Xiangdong just recently found jobs. On October 13, 2003, police from Liuying Substation, under the guidance of the "610 Office," tried to arrest Li Xiangdong but failed. Instead, they abducted his wife He Jinmei and brought her to the Hebei Provincial Brainwashing Center to be forcibly brainwashed. Li Xiangdong became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being unlawfully arrested while at home. Their 2-year-old son Guangyu is left at home without the care of his parents.

Falun Dafa practitioner Lai Zhenxian from Yunfu City, Guangdong Province was unlawfully arrested in Dongguan City in January 2003, and was sent to her hometown. The Yunfu City "610 Office" requested that police from Luoding City interrogate and torture Lai Zhenxian. They used pliers to pinch her fingers and feet for 33 days, which led to her hands and feet swelling up, and caused her great pain. The torture also made her incontinent. She has been severely harmed both physically and mentally. She can no longer take care of herself, yet the torture continues.

There are abducted Falun Dafa practitioners detained in each team of the Ping-an-tai Labor Camp, in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Gang in the 2^nd Team has suffered injuries all over his body as a result of being beaten by prisoners. We heard that Chen Gang has been sent to a hospital many times. There are many cuff marks on his wrists, both his hands are a purple and blue, and he cannot straighten his swollen fingers. He cannot straighten his back, and he cannot walk normally. His life is in danger because of multiple rounds of violent torture.

*In this torture, the head is bent down until it cannot go down any further, while the hands are pulled up and held up to the highest point. The hips have to point up. One is forced to keep this position unchanged for a long time.

*The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.
