1. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Numerous Falun Dafa Practitioners Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison
On June 5, 2003, six Shuangyashan City Falun Dafa practitioners were secretly sentenced to prison. Ms. Sun Fengjie received a prison term of 13 years, Ms. Wang Guanrong 12 years, Ms. Wu Yuqing 12 years, Ms. Wang Lihua 10 years, Ms. Zhao Xiangping 8 years, and Zhang Xinghua 5 years.
Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Zhang Hongbo, Ms. Zhao Yuhua, Ms. Sun Ruyan, Ms. Guo Hui, Ms. Wang Lihua, and Ms. Li Hong (pseudonym) were previously held in the Shuangyashan Detention Center. On September 17, 2003, they were transferred to the Harbin City Women's Prison after secret trials. On September 18, the Harbin Women's Prison refused to accept Ms. Zhao Yuhua after conducting a physical examination. Ms. Zhao was sent back to the Shaungyashan Detention Center where she is still detained. Another Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Deng Chunying has been paralyzed in all four limbs as a result of persecution. Although she is no longer able to take care of herself, she remains in custody at the detention center. Her situation is getting worse every day, and her life is in imminent danger.
In addition, Ms. Sun Fengjie, Ms. Wang Guanrong, Ms. Wu Yueqing, Ms. Zhao Xiangping, and others have also been transferred to the Harbin City Women's Prison for further persecution after secret trials.
On April 22, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Cui Hongwei was sent to the Qitaihe Brainwashing Class after having been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
2. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Police Ordered Inmates to Beat Falun Dafa Practitioners
Mo Shujun, head of the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center in Hebei Province, entered a vegetative state after having been actively engaged in the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners [see report in the July 27, 2003 Chinese version of the Clearwisdom.net website]. Police officers at the detention center have failed to learn any lesson from Mo's fate and continue to torment Falun Dafa practitioners.
Currently, Ms. Guo Xiaohui (a graduate student from southern China,), Ms. Sun Jianzhong, Ms. An Zhenjie, and Ms. Wang Yuqing (pseudonym) have become the primary targets of the persecution for persisting in their beliefs. Police officers have often ordered inmates to beat up Falun Dafa practitioners. It has been reported that in order to curry favor with the officers some inmates slapped a victim's face drawing blood from her mouth. An inmate named Qi Yan, imprisoned on drug trafficking charges, has been the most brutal and active. The officers have also force-fed practitioners on hunger strikes and then deprived them of their rights to use the bathroom. Ms. Guo Xiaohui and some other practitioners were unable to even stand up because of this kind of inhumane abuse. On October 10, the local prosecutor brought trumped-up charges of "interfering with implementation of the rule of law" against Ms. Guo Xiaohui. A trial is expected to be held soon.
3. [Northern China] Help Saving Sentient Beings through Overall Improvement
In the evening of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 11, 2003, the moon was particularly full and bright. In memory of fellow practitioners who gave up their lives, more than twenty Falun Dafa practitioners in a town in northern China collectively sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil in other dimensions, and to help strengthen all who are imprisoned and to help them break away as soon as possible to join the immense movement of the Fa-rectification. The practitioners rode motorcycles and bicycles or even walked on foot to reach the areas where very few Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials had been available previously. They distributed leaflets, posted flyers, and unfurled banners. At the same time, they sent forth righteous thoughts asking Teacher to strengthen them. The entire campaign concluded successfully just before midnight, the time scheduled for the coordinated sending forth of righteous thoughts. (A high school student who had come to realize the truth about Falun Gong also took part in this effort.)
4. [Huaiyang, Jiangsu Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Yang Mingqing Taken Away
On October 16, seven or eight officers led by Li Xizhi from the local police station in Huaiyang, Jiangsu Province took Doumen Township Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Mingqing away from his home. The police claimed that they have to receive 6,000 Yuan [500 Yuan being the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] in addition to the "three-statements" [denouncing Falun Gong] before Yang can be released.
5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Mei Hanying Has Been Missing for Three Years
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Mei Hanying, 40, was an employee at the Wuhan Clock Factory in Hubei Province. In July 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa and police threw her into a detention center. She was forced to take off all her clothes. The officers then abused her by demanding to look at her pubic area, pretending to search for materials or documents. Officers threatened to use a pair of scissors to cut her underwear if she did not oblige. After being held in Beijing, she was transferred back to the Wuhan Women's Prison for continued custody. Officers in the prison encouraged criminal inmates to torture her. She was suspended from the frame of a door for several hours for simply saying a couple of words to a fellow practitioner. Sometimes she was not allowed to put on clothes except for her underwear or bra. After suffering from all sorts of abuse and humiliation, officials from the local neighborhood administration office joined the police after one month to further pressure her. She was coerced to sign statements promising to give up practicing Falun Gong. After returning home, Ms. Mei felt grieved and became determined to continue to practice and validate Falun Dafa. She went out to distribute truth-clarifying materials on October 6, 2000, and has not returned home since. By now, she has been missing for three years.
6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Jingfa Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor
Mr. Li Jingfa, 61, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Changchun City, Jilin Province. At 2:00 a.m. on September 28, 2003, he was abducted by a group of officers from the Danan Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials. He was immediately committed to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp for one year of forced labor.
7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Chen Haibin, Han Shuxiang, and Xu Fan Unlawfully Arrested
After 7:00 p.m. on September 10, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Chen Haibin, Ms. Han Shuxiang, and Ms. Xu Fan went out to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Local informants called in police. Officers on patrol from Jinzhou District, Dalian City in Liaoning Province took the three practitioners to the Jinzhou District Detention Center. Their homes were ransacked the same night. On October 15, Ms. Han was placed on administrative detention [Note: lesser degree than criminal detention] instead of the original criminal detention (because of her older age). Ms. Chen Haibin and Ms. Xu Fan have been secretly sent to the Dalian Labor Camp, each to serve one year of forced labor.
8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Jiang Xiuying Taken Away by the Police
On September 20, Zhuanghe Falun Dafa practitioner Jiang Xiuying was abducted walking on the street by officers from the Xingda Police Station of the Zhuanghe City Police Department in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. It is unknown where he is being held.
9. [Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province] Wu Yuyun and Other Falun Dafa Practitioners Abducted to the Foshan Brainwashing Center
In mid-August, Wu Yuyun and several other Falun Dafa practitioners in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province were unlawfully taken to a brainwashing center in Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It has been reported that if the practitioners refuse to give in within three months, they will be sent to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province. So far, no further information is available on these practitioners.
10. [Chiping County, Shandong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Yuzhen Unlawfully Taken Away by the Police
In the afternoon of October 23, 2003, several officers from the Caitun Township Police Station in Chiping County, Shandong Province broke into the home of Falun Dafa practitioner Li Yuzhen, 59, who lives in the township. The officers took away the Falun Dafa book Zhuan Falun and other articles. Li was taken to the Caitun Township Police Station.

11. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Baoding "610 Office" Plans to Restore the Brainwashing Facility in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province
The Baoding City "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] is planning to restore the brainwashing facility located in Zhuozhou, Hebei Province. Recently, six Falun Dafa practitioners in Dingxing County have been taken away.
12. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Police Brutalities at the Brainwashing Center of the Weifang "610 Office"
A large number of Falun Dafa practitioners have been held in custody at the brainwashing center run by the Weifang "610 Office" in Shandong Province. Practitioners have undergone severe maltreatment. Ms. Wu Jingxia died there because of police brutalities. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Du Xiuhua refused to cooperate with the vicious demands and went on a hunger strike. Staff of the brainwashing center tried to insert tubes into her stomach, completely ignoring the critical condition she was already in. Ms. Du struggled in agony and the tube could not be put in place. The staff then handcuffed both her hands and feet to the bed with several people pressing down on her to stop her from moving. Several days later, Ms. Du's four limbs became numb, and the authorities called in doctors for injections and infusions. Amidst all these troubles, she refused to give up her convictions, and was eventually sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. There are quite a few other similar examples. Some practitioners were so severely abused that they suffered from mental breakdowns. The brainwashing center has also "invited" someone named Guo Wenjie to demonstrate her "expertise" in beating and abusing Falun Dafa practitioners, and as a result, the torture of Falun Dafa practitioners has escalated. The persecution is being continued in the brainwashing center.
