Chen Shidong, Vice Party Secretary at the Coal Factory of Hemei Group in Heilongjiang Province, was responsible for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. His crimes include firing Falun Gong practitioners from their jobs, detaining current and retired employees, ordering forced brainwashing, and pressuring practitioners to write letters denouncing Falun Gong. In September 2000, when Chen was about to be promoted to be the Party Secretary by the Hemei Group Party Committee he suddenly died of a heart attack in his office.

Facts of Persecution

1. Police from Qingxin Police Station and the Rangqu Public Security Bureau of Daqing City Illegally Detain Dafa Practitioner Li Zikuan.

On September 27, 2002, the police from Qingxin Police Station and the Rangqu Public Security Bureau of Daqing City illegally searched Falun Gong practitioner Li Zikuan's home. Later he was kidnapped and was sent to the Longfeng District Detention Center and illegally detained for one month. After that he was held at the the Daqing Detention Center for over 50 days before being sent to the Rangqu Detention Center where he was detained at least 18 days. Currently he is detained at the Daqing City Labor Education Center where he is sentenced to 2-years of forced labor.

2. "610 Office" in Baiyin City, Gansu Province Kidnaps Retired Teacher Jiang Yingdou and Charges Her for Illegal Brainwashing Class.

On November 11, 2003, Jiang Yingdou, a retired teacher from Sanhe Village Middle-School in Dongwan Town, Jingyuan County of Baiyin City, Gansu Province, was kidnapped and sent to Baiying City Brainwashing Class by the local "610 Office." She was forced by the "610 Office" to deduct 30 Yuan per day from her retirement pension to "pay" for the "class."

3. 1^st Female Labor Education Center in Guangxi Province Tortures Practitioners Around-the-clock.

At the 1^st Female Labor Education Center in Guangxi Province, police ordered practitioners to be monitored around the clock. Practitioners were routinely beaten and insulted in order to force them to give up their belief. The police used ropes and handcuffs to bind and hang up practitioners. The torture also includes locking up practitioners, force-feeding, not allowing them to sleep for long periods of time, and forcing them to squat for long periods of time. Additionally, practitioners are forced to work 10 -- 20 hours a day. Those who could not finish "assignments" from the police would be punished by forced physical exercise and prolonged work hours, etc. Any practitioner who objected to the unfair treatment would be beaten.

News from China

Several days ago there was an article featured on an Internet news website in China -- "The Police Ignored the Thieves! Commuters Got the Evidence on Video." The article says that that police at Dazhongsi and Zizhuyuan police stations in Haidian District in Beijing shifted tasks to avoid taking action after hearing reports about thievery. The bandit went on stealing and even robbing publicly. But the police officers work very hard in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Dazhongsi police even deploy plainclothes officers and hire taxis to follow practitioners. The reality of this story should wake up the Chinese people who are still indifferent to the persecutions against Falun Gong practitioners. When the Chinese legal system totally loses its social functions, ignores real crimes, instead acting as a tool to persecute innocent people, it is a calamity to every one.

Understanding the Environment Around Oneself: The time for cultivation during Fa-Rectification is very limited. Some practitioners still think about maintaining personal benefits. They could not step forward up to now, with the attachment of fear and comfort. Some are afraid that their ideal jobs or positions would be affected, some worry that their economic situation would be damaged, some are afraid that their relatives would be affected, some think that their cultivation has been pretty good already, and some are unable to continue diligent cultivation after suffering several severe tribulations; there are numerous excuses. Generally, they are all related to ordinary people's fame, benefits, and sentiment. On one hand they want to continue in cultivation, but on the other hand they cannot let go of their human attachments. But cultivation is serious.
