The Persecution
The Beijing Law Enforcement Training Center is a center for barbaric torture
of Falun Gong practitioners. The collaborators [former Falun Gong
practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] use all
kinds of shameful means to harass Falun Gong practitioners. The guards kick,
punch, and curse the practitioners and do not allow practitioners to sleep,
wash, or change their clothes for long periods of time.
The World Journal reports on January 23: Disputes were triggered again by whether Falun Gong could participate in the Chinese New Year parade in Flushing, New York. At the parade preparation committee meeting, the mainland-friendly organization and the Taiwanese organization exchanged a fiery debate which ended in bad feelings. The New York city government's Human Rights Committee yesterday wrote to the parade preparation committee and pointed out that it was aware of what had happened the previous year, when the parade committee rejected Falun Gong from participating in the parade. The letter stated that should the parade committee again refuse Falun Gong's participation this year, using any excuse that involves discrimination of religion, gender, race, or disability, the human rights commission will launch an investigation.
The World Journal reported on January 25: On January 24, over 20 Falun Gong practitioners, and some democracy activists from the formerly named country of Burma, gathered in front of the Myanmar (Burma) Embassy in Washington D.C. in order to protest the detention of Chen Rongyuan by the Myanmar government. They asked for the immediate release of the 71-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. Chen went to Myanmar for a visit in 2001. On the day of the Chinese leader Jiang's, visit to Rangoon, Chen unfurled a banner of Truth, Compassion, Forbearance on the way to the airport and was arrested. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.
[Indonesia] Surabaya Surya reports on January 9: Banned in China, Falun Gong is propagating in Indonesia. Yesterday, Falun Gong in Sishui invited practitioner Dai Zhizhen to testify. She was among the victims of Jiang's regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In June 2001, Dai's husband, Chen Chengyong was discovered dead in a field.
The Voice of America reports on January 25: The United States and
several human rights organizations indicated that on Monday, the United Nations
Human Rights Commission chose Libya as its duty president this year and
destroyed the organization's prestige. Some human right activists called for a
reform in order to prevent a country, with failed human rights records, from
being elected as leader of the UN's Human Rights Commission. Libya has been
receiving criticism from the UN for several of its violations of human rights.
Discovering the conscience: It has been three years since the people were set between the Falun Dafa practitioners' truthfulness and the authorities' lies. Seeing the purity of Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance, some people admire, some curse, some doubt, some are numb, and some bravely stand up and some pursue. From the beginning, conscience can recognize sincerity and the truth has always been there waiting for you. Dare you open your dust-covered eyes, the original conscience may lead you to walk into the boundless reality.
