Ottawa, Canada, August 3 -- Canadian Falun Gong practitioners held a news conference inside the Parliament Building on August 2 and are rallying across the country today, in front of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, to appeal for attention and help to end the ongoing political prosecution of Swiss and Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners by Hong Kong police. They also expressed serious concerns for Hong Kong's reputation as a free and democratic society.

Practitioners Rally For Justice In Front of Chinese Consulate in Calgary, Canada

Practitioners are raising awareness of the so-called "trial" of Falun Gong practitioners currently underway in Hong Kong. Not only are the freedoms of sixteen Swiss and Hong Kong citizens being sacrificed to further Beijing's political agenda and extend the reach of Jiang Zemin's criminal persecution of Falun Gong to Hong Kong, but also at risk are the freedom of speech, freedom of belief and freedom of assembly for all Hong Kong citizens.

On the morning of July 31, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners in the San Francisco Bay area gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate to hold a press conference regarding the court case and false charges made against Falun Gong practitioners by the Hong Kong police. The practitioners played videotapes and displayed photos that clearly showed that Hong Kong and Swiss practitioners had neither "obstructed the street" nor "assaulted the police officers."
