In mid December 2001, a fellow practitioner warned me to watch out for my safety because another practitioner who had previously been in charge of distributing truth-clarifying materials had been arrested. After a momentary hesitation, I made the decision to stay there. In openness and dignity, I was going to face the evil force, as I thought it would have been a compromise with the evil beings to hide what I was doing at that time.
On the following morning, the police climbed over the wall and dragged me into their vehicle. Fearing nothing, I began sending forth righteous thoughts. While several police officers were searching for the materials in my house, I sent forth the thought that I should not let them find anything. As it turned out, they never found anything. Upon arrival at the local police station, they immediately began to interrogate me, but I refused to answer any question about myself or about the truth-clarifying materials. Teacher's words kept reminding me, "No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates." ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts Are Powerful.") When they were taking turns questioning me, I refused to cooperate with any of them. Failing to get any answers, the police stopped the interrogation. Then I began clarifying the truth to them. Whenever I touched a nerve, they would shout at the top of their lungs, so I eliminated the evil factors that were manipulating them from other dimensions. Since I was there, I had to clean up the environment.
When they had failed to get anything out of me after a whole day of grilling, they yelled at me, "Do you think we don't know what you did, or that we can't take measures against you? We can sentence you anyway! If we did not already have the evidence, we would never have arrested you!"
I replied with the authority of justice, "Sentence me? What you say doesn't really matter. What I am doing is most righteous and is to save the people. Since I know the truth about Falun Gong, I must proclaim it to the people of the world, letting everyone know about Falun Gong so they can obtain salvation!"
A policeman inquired, "Did they ask you for salvation?"
I told him, "Whether or not they asked me, is irrelevant. It's their own choice. But I know the truth about Falun Gong and I must let the people of the world know it also, so they can make their choice! You are violating one law while enforcing another. Which law did I violate at home? Which law forbids the freedom of belief? Which law does not allow people to speak honestly and to clarify the truth? You are violating my human rights!" My words made them silent.
When they didn't give me anything to eat from morning until afternoon, I asked them, "Would any of you not feel hungry if you had gotten nothing to eat? What is your reason for giving me nothing to eat?" They later brought me some food, but still did not allow me to go to sleep at night. Two guards each took turns watching me closely, so as to prevent me from sleeping. Once, when I fell asleep, they called out to me and forced me to keep raising my head. When I did not raise my head, they dragged me to the wall and made me stand there. I resisted all these abuses.
On the second day, I began a hunger strike to appeal for my freedom. Whenever there was an opportunity, I clarified the truth to them. By the afternoon, their attitudes had changed somewhat. When taking their dinner break, out of their own personal interest, several officers came to ask me about Falun Gong. I talked with them in light of their specific conditions so it would be easier for them to understand. The conversation lasted until late into the evening. When a senior policeman left, I heard him say to himself, "Pretty good!" Another thirty-year-old policeman had been the fiercest and had always begun yelling whenever I mentioned Falun Gong. On that day, however, he was spellbound, just listening without saying a word. He let me keep talking about it until the end of his shift. After midnight, I decided that I should look for an opportunity to leave here. But if I could somehow escape, then how would I do Falun Dafa's work in an open and above board manner? So I resolved to regain my freedom, but with dignity.
By the third day, the situation had significantly improved, and the police began showing me their respect. When it was quiet, I started to recite from Teacher's article, ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts Are Powerful,") "Why should you, a Dafa disciple, fear the evil ones when enduring persecution? The crux of the matter is that you have attachments. If not, do not endure passively, and face the evil people with righteous thoughts at all times."
As I recited those words, I suddenly realized that the police didn't really care about my hunger strike on its second day. Wasn't it my passive endurance? Realizing that this was not right, I asked to speak to the supervisor.
A high-ranking officer from the department soon showed up. I told him, "You didn't allow me to sleep, and you abused me. You are violating human rights. I am going to file charges against you in the United Nations and expose you personally!" He had nothing to say and left in depression. In the afternoon, they had a collaborator [a former Falun Gong practitioner who had gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] who had just been released, talk to me. I told him, "Stop it! As a particle of Falun Dafa, I must perform my function as a particle. What the police are supposed to hear should be the truth about Falun Dafa!"
When the ranking officer returned, he said, "It has been days, and we haven't even gotten your name."
I replied, "This is a place where criminals should answer questions. I am not a criminal, so release me immediately!"
He said, "My words won't matter."
I told him, "Your words may not matter, but my words certainly do!" and I opened the door to leave. At that moment, he smiled and offered to give me a ride home in his car.
Teacher says, "A Dafa disciple completely opposes everything arranged by the evil old forces. Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts, save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination, because you are a part of Dafa, indestructible; rectify all that is not righteous."
