As reported by Information Times (China) on July 4, a severe rainstorm has pummeled the Zhanjian area in the west part of Guangdong province in China over the last few days. It engulfed part of Wuchuan City and six villages on the outskirts. The flood forced 1,853 people from their homes. About 286,000 people were affected by the disaster that destroyed 324 houses and inundated almost 25,000 acres. One person is missing in the flood.
In Maoming City, two people were killed by the storm. 346,500 people were affected by the calamity, which caused property damage estimated at 236,700,000 Yuan (about US $30,000,000).
In Fengkai County, the He River overflowed it banks, causing severe damage to Nanfeng and seven other towns. Preliminary statistics indicated that 16,000 families in 57 villages (274 natural villages) were affected by the flood . The total number of people affected is thought to be about 63,000 and the direct property damage is estimated at one hundred million Yuan (about twelve and half million US dollars).
A sudden storm soaked the northern mountain area of Qingyuan City. Initial statistics indicate 211,900 affected in 55 townships of Lianshan, Liannan, Lianzhou and Yangshan Counties. About 210 houses were destroyed and area fields were flooded. Property damage caused by flooding was estimated at sixty million Yuan (about seven and half million US dollars).
