National Post (Canada): UN 'human rights' an embarrassment

An article entitled "UN 'human rights' an embarrassment" on Canadian newspaper National Post criticized, "For accuracy's sake, the United Nations' Human Rights Commission should be renamed the 'Human Rights' Commission." Some of the world's worst human rights abusers, including China, make up a powerful bloc on the HRC and procedural maneuvers and bloc voting have allowed these countries to stifle scrutiny of themselves and get others off scot free. According to the article, two weeks ago the commission voted against a resolution to criticize a country with very bad human rights record. China has also recently escaped sanction.
