During the night of April 20th to April 21st, 2002, the Province of Heilongjiang, China was the site for yet another interrupted public TV airing. Some people managed to tie into the cable TV network and show a 75-minute long program of Falun Gong, dealing with human rights abuses in the PRC, the government-staged so-called "self-immolation" incident, as well as the worldwide spread of Falun Gong, among other topics. Also shown was footage of the April 25, 1999 appeal by Falun Gong followers at Zhongnanhai, the Chinese seat of government in Beijing. According to reliable information, many cable TV viewers in a certain section of a metropolitan city in Heilongjiang Province were able to view the tape.
Since the beginning of the persecution of Falun Gong in China, Chinese citizens and Westerners alike have peacefully appealed to not only the Chinese government, but to all governments, organizations and individuals, to help bring an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
So far, the largest appeal by Falun Gong practitioners happened on April 25, 1999, when approximately 10,000 practitioners gathered in Beijing to voice their concerns with the Appeals Bureau, where the police authorities directed them to Zhongnanhai, the seat of government. Three months later the Chinese government declared this appeal a "conspiracy." July 20, 1999 was the beginning of a huge wave of arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. On July 22, 1999, Chinese government authorities outlawed Falun Gong.
Today on the third anniversary of this incident, Falun Gong practitioners in Germany show solidarity with the victims in China and are remembering them by their peaceful sit-ins in front of Chinese embassies and consulates.
Falun Gong Information Center Germany wishes to let you know that in the face of total media control and news block-outs prevailing in China by order of the ruling dictator and his government, this TV program about Falun Gong brought a ray of hope to all wrongfully persecuted people in China.
