(Clearwisdom.net) On April 3, 2002, several dozen Chinese and American Falun Gong practitioners jointly filed a civil lawsuit with the U.S. Federal Court in Washington DC against the Chinese Ministry of State Security, Ministry of Public Security and Chinese Central Television (CCTV), alleging a systematic and violent campaign of criminal activities on U.S. soil, violating basic civil rights of Falun Gong practitioners in the United States, as well as the rights protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
This is Falun Gong's new approach to resisting their cruel persecution by Jiang's regime. According to Washington DC civil rights lawyer Martin F. McMahon, this is the first civil lawsuit that involves the protection of freedom and privacy rights and interests in the United States, where the defendants are foreign government departments.
The actual and historic significance of this lawsuit cannot be overestimated. At the very least, it will send a serious message to those Chinese departments that rampantly violated US laws.
Besides widespread wiretapping and threatening messages, claims brought forth by Falun Gong practitioners also include: destruction of a car by fire, the beating of a Falun Gong practitioner outside a Chinese consulate, break-in and robbery of Falun Gong practitioner's home. These claims were acknowledged long ago. People in the Chinese community often hear, "The Communist Party is so terrible, they even bully people in the United States." Many overseas democracy advocates have reported similar experiences. This lawsuit not only serves as a sharp warning to the dictator and his accomplices, but also sets an example for more people to take similar actions in the future.
We are reminded of the recent incident in which the Guangzhou Daily, a Chinese Communist Party newspaper in Guangzhou City, published two of Li Hongzhi's articles. Less than one month after the cable TV network in Changchun City broadcast the Falun Gong video, this new incident really amazed people.
At this point, who could doubt the determined vitality of Falun Gong? Two years ago, Jiang said, "I don't believe I can not rule Falun Gong." However, the fact is that it is impossible for Jiang to rule Falun Gong.
People make mistakes, often because they think of others from their own perspectives. Jiang believes in omnipotent coercion, a reflection of his mentality. Those who treat others cruelly reflect their own cowardice. Jiang apparently thinks, "If I were you, facing such cruel suppression, I would have already surrendered long ago." Those who "don't believe they cannot rule you" really don't believe that people can adhere to their beliefs without yielding to strong coercion.
Nearly three years have passed, simply this campaign to suppress Falun Gong willfully by resorting to every conceivable means is enough to put Jiang on the list of tyrants. The question now is: which of Jiang's successors will want to continue to bear the bad names.
The Jewish people go in hot pursuit of Nazi criminals. Though these criminals conceal their identities and hide in remote corners of the world, the Jewish people never give up until they track them down. With seriousness, determination, carefulness and firmness, the Jewish people have succeeded in nailing the Nazi criminals to the historic pillar of shame. The Nazi persecution of the Jews became an indelible common memory of all mankind, leaving a powerful message to later generations: "Never forget and never let it happen again." Chinese people are often criticized as "slack, with only five minutes of enthusiasm." But when you look at Falun Gong's tenacious persistence, it is not necessarily so.
