On the afternoon of February 18, Belgian practitioners held a press conference at Brussels International Media Center to further expose Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
A press statement from Belgium's Falun Dafa Association was read. The statement gave a detailed account of the facts of Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners as well as slandering propaganda overseas. The statement calls upon the Belgian government, the international community and media, and all kind people to be concerned about the situation of Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China and to urge Chinato stop killing innocent Falun Gong practitioners and restore the reputation of Falun Gong.
Afterwards, practitioners showed the videos, "SOS! UrgentRescue the Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China" and the "The Truth of theTiananmen Self-Immolation Incident." The attendees were all shocked at the criminal acts of Jiang regime against Falun Gong practitioners.
A letter from Belgian MP Maertens to the press conference was read. In his letter, Mr. Maertens said, "Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeal on Tiananmen Square does not violate any social orders or Chinese laws." He also stated that the anti-Falun Gong exhibition held at the Chinese embassy in Brussels was pure brainwashing and does not offer any objective evidence. He reiterated that this kind of behavior is not acceptable in Belgium. He had notified the Belgian Minister of Justice about this matter. He also asked Belgium's minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice to discuss the Falun Gong issue with the Chinese government through diplomatic channels.
Belgian MP Mr. Williams also spoke at the press conference. He was shocked at the crimes the Jiang regime has committed against Falun Gong practitioners.
A statement from Amnesty International was also read at the press conference. AI strongly condemned the Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. They strongly request that the Belgian government urge the Chinese government to stop the violation of human rights of Falun Gong practitioners, to stop all tortures in jails, and allow people the basic freedoms of speech, belief and association.
