According to reliable sources, in order to control and block overseas TV rebroadcasts to Mainland China such as from the Bengang and Feicui TV Stations in Hong Kong, Chinese authorities required TV stations in Mainland China, Guangdong Province for instance, to be outfit with scrambling systems. All TV programs are stored in the "buffering" system for 12 seconds, meaning that the TV programs we see in Mainland China are delayed by 12 seconds. On the Chinese New Year's Eve, in order to celebrate the New Year and Falun Dafa Day, Dafa practitioners from a city in Anhui Province hung up a 6 meter-wide and 10 meter- long banner in the center of the city. The huge banner read, "Falun Dafa is Good." Some one-meter long smaller banners were hung up in colleges, on roadsides, along main streets and in parks.

[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Dafa Practitioner with a Ph.D. Degree Sustains Severe Injury from Torture
According to indirect sources, an over 40-year-old Dafa practitioner with a Ph.D. degree was illegally detained in Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. As he refused to write the "guarantee statement," [These statements declare that practitioners are sorry they ever practiced Falun Dafa, are guaranteeing never to go to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, will not associate with other Dafa practitioners and will give up their faith in Dafa] the wardens instigated criminals to beat him. He was severely injured, became very weak, could not stand straight and suffered from bloody urine for a long time. However, the enforcers in the labor camp not only did not send him for medical treatment, but also blocked the information about this torture using all possible means. They did not allow his relatives and colleagues to visit him. The doctor's name and background are unclear.
[Qinghua University, Beijing] Dafa Practitioner Zhang Dahua is Kidnapped into a Brainwashing Class for the Second Time
On January 2, 2002, Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Dahua, a former student of the class of '83 in the Computer Science Department at Qinghua University was taken into custody in a local police station. This took place after he had arrived at the apartment rented by a fellow practitioner in Tongzhou. The policemen informed Mr. Zhang's family that Dafa truth-clarifying discs, materials and a printer, and other items were found where he lived. On January 3, he was sent to the Tongzhou brainwashing class. On January 8, on the sixth day of his hunger strike abstaining from food and water, he passed out due to convulsions and was sent to Luhe Hospital in Tongzhou City. A week later, exam results showed that he had no function in one of his kidneys and an acute tumor in the other. On January 31 he had surgery after he and his family gave consent. On February 6, before he had even recovered, he was again put into a brainwashing class administered by the Daxingtuanhe Culture Department. His situation is unknown and his family is not allowed to visit him.
During the time Mr. Zhang stayed in the hospital, four people watched him every day. Two of them were his colleagues, the others were police and security officers. At first, there was a so-called "help to re-educate expert" who came every day to spread evil understandings of Dafa, but Mr. Zhang persuaded him otherwise and the person had nothing more to contribute, so several days later he didn't come back. Mr. Zhang clarified the truth to the four people who watched him and recited Dafa books to them. As the officials were afraid of the enforcers getting to know the truth, they changed enforcers who watched Mr. Zhang every two or three days. Mr. Zhang was designated as an "important person" and was not allowed to be bailed out. In the hospital, he resolutely resisted the pressure from his family and the temptation from his superior, who said, "If you say something [against Dafa], we'll bail you out for medical treatment and then you can return to work. We'll also promote you and solve your housing problem."
[Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Dafa Practitioner Li Shuwen is Illegally Sent to Forced Labor Camp and Practitioner Sun Shujie is Kidnapped
Li Shuwen, a practitioner in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was illegally arrested and detained at the Mining Bureau Detention Center because he went to Beijing to validate Dafa in March 2001. After he walked out of the detention center with righteous thoughts, officials from the Mining Bureau Police Department kidnapped him and detained him at the city detention center. Now he has been secretly transferred to Suihua City's Forced Labor Camp.
On February 10, 2002, practitioner Sun Shujie from Shuangyashan City was kidnapped from her home. It was said that she had recently stopped her work unit from playing Dafa slandering videos. She is being illegally detained at the city detention center, and the details need further investigation.
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Arrest of Dafa Practitioners before the Spring Festival
- Dafa Practitioner Li Yuanzhen who worked at Chengdu Chinese Medicine Institute was arrested and her home was ransacked. Many Dafa materials and phone book were confiscated. The police authorities also watched her home and arrested three practitioners who went to her home within three days. Ms. Li has a paralyzed 80-year-old senior at home with no one to take care of her.
- Recently, Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Kai disappeared. He was supposed to have been illegally arrested. At the beginning of 2001, after Mr. Wang Kai was released from the Dayan Forced Labor Camp, policemen and government officials often went to his home and threatened his parents to turn him in.
- Before the Spring Festival, practitioners Li Zhijie and Chen Dairong, employees at Chengdu City's Seamless Steel Pipe Factory were illegally arrested and detained at Chengdu City's Detention Center.
[Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Over Ten Days of Hunger Strike by Dafa Practitioners Qu Shufan and Guan Longmei in a Drug Rehabilitation Center
Since July 22, 1999, the evil forces have relentlessly persecuted practitioners belonging to the Minhe Hui and Tu ethnic groups in an autonomous county located between Gansu and Qinghai Provinces. They arrested, detained, fined, reduced salaries and expelled practitioners from their jobs. Four people have been illegally sent to forced labor camps and three people were forced to live in exile. Persons from the county government and the "610 Office" also set up a brainwashing class and forced practitioners to write "guarantee statements." On top of that, they also involved practitioners' relatives.
However, the practitioners in Minhe County were not deterred in the face of this tremendous tribulation. On February 4, 2002, they distributed and posted a lot of Dafa truth-clarifying materials and banners in and around the county, which effectively suffocated the evil and helped the ethnic minority people who had been deluded by lies to learn the truth about Dafa.
On January 31, 2002, Dafa practitioners Qu Shufan and Guan Longmei, employees of the Lanzhou Carbon Factory (205 Factory) were illegally arrested by policemen from the Haishiwan Police Station and detained at a drug rehabilitation center when they were eradicating the vicious propaganda materials slandering Dafa. These two practitioners resolutely refused to cooperate with the evil and have been on a hunger strike for more than ten days.

On February 8, 2002, someone reported Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Xiaoli from Qingdao City to the police authorities when she was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying VCDs. Ms. Wang was arrested and sent to Qingdao City's Dashan Jail for three years of illegal forced labor.
[Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Foul Deeds of Enforcers in Jimo City's Detention Center
Wardens in Jimo City's Detention Center have been illegally detaining and persecuting Dafa practitioners. Their brutal persecution was unbelievable. Some abusive wardens in the detention center openly instigated felons to torture practitioners. Policemen gave all the money and clothes that practitioners' relatives sent to the practitioners to the "cell leaders," as an incentive to encourage them to torture practitioners. "Cell leaders" gathered some brutal felons to abuse practitioners with all kinds of torture methods on a daily basis.
Criminals covered the illegally detained Dafa practitioners with cotton quilts. Then they madly beat and kicked them until practitioners lost consciousness. Some practitioners even lost control of their bladder and bowels.
In the winter when the temperature was lower than minus 10 degrees, the criminals poured a basin of ice water down practitioners' necks. They also poured water on the cement floor, stripped off practitioners' clothes and forced them to sit on the floor in order to freeze them. The criminals brutally force-fed those practitioners who were on a hunger strike. They "tied and bundled" the practitioners. Sometimes practitioners could not move for several days. Those determined practitioners were deprived of sleep for many days. The wardens ordered some former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture to persecute them around the clock. During the nights, they surrounded the practitioners, screaming, cursing and yelling.
The crimes we have exposed were just a few samples. We hope all the kind-hearted people help Dafa practitioners and stop this vicious persecution.
It was confirmed that another criminal policeman from Jimo City's Tongji District Police Department got retribution recently. His legs were broken in a car accident and he was expelled from the office.

Yuan Zhonglin, is a policeman in his forties from the Changjiu Road Police Station in Changchun City. On February 9, he was seriously injured in a collision with a van on the way to arrest Dafa practitioners. At present, the chance for his survival is still slim. It was a "hit-and-run" accident. According to the police investigation, the van that caused the accident belongs to the Yihe Road Police Station, which is under the same police jurisdiction as the injured officer. Local people all said that this was a dogfight and, "they" received retribution for arresting Dafa practitioners.
Several hours prior to the accident, on the evening of February 8, Yuan Zhonglin illegally detained Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Hongwei. On February 3, he detained female practitioner Ms. Liu Baohua for distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. This is just the beginning of retribution.
[Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Kidnapping and Persecution of Multiple Dafa Practitioners in Songyuan City
At 11 p.m. on February 7, 2002, some lawless policemen from Ningjiang District kidnapped Dafa practitioner Mrs. Liu Guiling and her husband, ransacked their home and took away some Dafa materials. The Liu Guiling couple is now imprisoned at Ningjiang District's Detention Center. Their 8-year-old son was left alone at home.
On February 8, 2002, policemen suddenly broke into practitioner Du's home in Sanchahe Town, Fuyu County. They forcibly confiscated over 300 Dafa truth-clarifying banners, several boxes of truth-clarifying tapes and a lot of Dafa materials. Under Teacher's mighty power, the practitioner broke away from the evil forces with wisdom.
On the evening of February 9, 2002, under orders from higher authorities, all the policemen in Fuyu County simultaneously conducted a large-scale raid. Several Dafa practitioners were kidnapped and detained. These lawless policemen even took this chance to extort money from practitioners. The means they adopted were very despicable. The names of the arrested practitioners are not yet known. This incident is under investigation.
Around 7:00 p.m. on February 11, 2002, ruffian Sun Jifeng kidnapped a practitioner in Xinzhan Town of Fuyu County while he (or she) was doing some Dafa truth-clarifying work.
In October 2001, a train conductor spotted practitioners Zhang Jun, Wang Yi and Yang Weihua reading Teacher's articles. They were arrested afterwards. At present, they are still being illegally detained and persecuted at Fuyu County's Detention Center. During the extremely cold winter days, practitioner Zhang Jun and Wang Yi are still wearing thin clothes while suffering these inhumane tortures. They had staged a hunger strike to protest the abuse and were both tortured with excruciating methods. They have become very gaunt.
The vicious guards always tortured practitioners Yang Weihua and Zhu Liancai. They often took them to every cell, beat, tortured and humiliated them. They even ordered the common prisoners to torture the practitioners secretly.
The enforcers at the detention center often tortured practitioner Yang Yajie with excruciating means, such as the "Tiger Bench" and force-feeding. Their means were extremely cruel and the practitioner's esophagus and stomach were damaged to different degrees. As the result, the practitioner had difficulties eating and also suffered from bloody urine.
