[Qingyang County, Gansu Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Xu Feng Is Illegally Sentenced to 20 Years in Jail; Ma Yulin Sentenced to 7 Years
On September 17, 2002, police from Qingyang County of Gansu Province and its nearby areas conducted a large-scale manhunt for Falun Dafa practitioner Xu Feng and arrested him. Once before that, he had been illegally arrested and had walked out with his righteous thoughts. Not long after Xu Feng's arrest, practitioner Ma Yulin was also arrested.
Both Xu Feng and Ma Yulin are employees from the Qingyang Communications Bureau. Ma Yulin had been arrested several times before that. Xu Feng was beaten up and had blood all over his body.
Both of them were sentenced to jail in early December simply because they refused to give up Falun Dafa. Xu Feng was sentenced to 20 years in jail; Ma Yulin was sentenced to 7 years.
[Yi County, Liaoning Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Chunmei Is Illegally Arrested and Her Whereabouts Are Unknown
Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Chunmei, from Yi County of Liaoning Province, was arrested while she was going to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa in September 2001. She was then escorted back to her hometown. Later on, she was illegally sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Under no circumstances did she ever yield to the evil. She insisted on practicing the Falun Dafa exercises. Consequently, she was put in solitary confinement for a long time. Later, a medical examination found that she suffered from severe anemia, and she was then released on bail for medical treatment for one month. In November 2001, after she recovered from the anemia, she went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was arrested again and her whereabouts are unknown.
[Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Detention Centers Torture Male Falun Dafa Practitioners
The detention centers in Hegang City relentlessly torture male Falun Dafa practitioners. During December 7 and 8, police beat up 23 male practitioners and then left them out in the cold. Two of the practitioners suffered head injuries.

Zhang Yuchun, female, is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Chengdu City. Around December 8, 2002, she was captured at the home she was renting located on Xiaolongqiao Road in Chengdu City. Her home was ransacked by the police. A multi-function printer used for making truth-clarifying materials was confiscated.

[Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Qiu Shuying Is Persecuted
Falun Dafa practitioner Qiu Shuying had been arrested three times. On November 9, 2000, while she was clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa, Zhu Weidong, a policeman from the Fu'an Police Substation, arrested her and kept her in detention for 39 days. She was fined nearly 10,000 Yuan [equal to 20 months' income for an average worker in China]. On November 1, 2002, four policemen went to her home. They used deceptive ploys to detain her. She still has not been released.
[Zhenzhou City, Henan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Hu Jianqing Is Brutally Tortured Beyond Recognition
In mid July of this year, Zhenzhou practitioner Hu Jianqing was arrested while on his way to deliver truth-clarifying materials. He was then subjected to various forms of brutal torture during his detention. His physical body became so severely deformed that the security people from his work didn't recognize him until the third time they saw him. Currently, Hu Jiangqing is being illegally detained in the Qiliyan Detention Center. Around November, the police went to search his home again. They harassed him and his mother repeatedly.

Around November 20, 2002, the "610 Office" in Longkou City, together with local police, illegally detained and brutally persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. Practitioner Wang Mowu was arrested for no reason and then illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor camp. Practitioner Wang Mingqi and Ren Tao were illegally arrested and are still being detained in jail. About 56 practitioners, including Yin Shuyun, were illegally detained and then forcibly brainwashed.
