News From China

Lawless thugs from Huadian City Detention Center and Police Department in Jilin Province persecute Dafa practitioners. From June 1 to June 4, Dafa practitioners Jin Yushan, Yu Cuifan, Wang Xiuyun, Wang Xiaohu, Ban Huijuan, Xu Guijun, Shao Ling were successively arrested and brutally tortured. Eventually, Jin Yushan escaped with righteous thoughts. On October 8, Shao Ling, Ban Huijuan, Wang Xiuyun and Xu Guijun were heavily sentenced to 12 years in jail, Wang Xiaohu and Yu Wenyan 7 years, Yu Ciufan and Chen Congyu 3 years. In late November, the evil thugs again began to arrest Dafa practitioners on a large scale.

Fa-rectification Story

My Fa-rectification experience in Beijing: In November 2000, I unfurled a banner in Tiananmen Square and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good." The police arrested me and sent me to Yanqing County Detention Center in Beijing. I refused to give my name. Since I was diagnosed to have high blood pressure, they released me on the same day. Unexpectedly, the police arrested me again when I was waiting at the train station, and they again took me to Yanqing County Detention Center where I held a hunger strike. The guards ordered prisoners to beat and kick me, and they stripped my clothes off and poured cold water on me. I was not moved. Two days later, I walked out of the detention center in an upright and dignified manner and returned home after three days and nights.

I used righteous thoughts to eliminate the persecution in a brainwashing class. During the Sixteenth Party Congress, my work unit began preparing for a brainwashing class. My mind wavered. Through persistent Fa study and sending forth righteous thoughts, I looked back at my cultivation path and saw that I walked through it by negating the old forces' arrangements. I suddenly realized the brainwashing class is not going to happen to me, the fundamental purpose of the evil for holding the brainwashing class is to shake Dafa practitioners' determination and make them give up their beliefs. Because of my steadfast cultivation in the past, it's no longer possible to change my faith with any method. It's not going to happen to me, because Dafa principles don't allow it. If we progress diligently in the Fa and look inward at all times, Master is watching over everything.

News From Abroad

A commentary in the China Times December 17^th asked, "the 'One Country, Two Systems' policy lasts only five minutes although it's suppose to last fifty years?" The commentary stated that the seven "crimes" to be targeted by Article 23 of the Basic Law triggered a large-scale street protest, which creates a serious situation that both Beijing and the Hong Kong government must face. If Beijing wants to keep its reputation regarding the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, it must carefully protect some of Hong Kong's political differences, and the Hong Kong government must face these acute political responsibilities head on.

Central News Agency December 17^th special dispatch: after the Hong Kong government announced its decision to enact Article 23 Legislation, which affects the freedom and rights of the people, many organizations in the New York area voiced opposition. The Chinese American Democracy and Peace Organization branch office in New York held an open forum discussion; Falun Gong Associations in North America proposed a jointly signed letter, and the China Rule-by-Law Political Organization, which was initiated by democracy activist Wang Dan, published an announcement in which it expressed hope that the interest of the Hong Kong people will be protected.
