(Clearwisdom.net) On November 28, 2002, the annual Grand Thanksgiving Parade was held in downtown Houston. Dozens of large corporations and local schools were invited to attend. Dafa practitioners represented the only Chinese group of the entire parade. We felt that it was a great opportunity to introduce Falun Dafa to the public.
At 9:00 a.m. the parade began. The local TV and radio stations and newspapers came to conduct interviews and videotape the parade. TV station Channel 11 (CBS) did a live broadcast and rebroadcast it multiple times. Tens of thousands of locals crowded along the roadside to watch the performances. There were floats, horse-drawn carriages, cheerleaders, and more.
The Falun Dafa parade group was very eye-catching. At the front of the procession were round signs with the words, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" in Chinese and a large banner with the words, "Falun Dafa -- Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." The "fan dance group" followed, performing a traditional Chinese folk dance. After them, it was the "exercise group." Dafa practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises for the appreciative audience, accompanied by gentle exercise music. After that, it was the "lotus flower dance group." At the back of the procession were banners with the words, "Falun Dafa " in both Chinese and English, and Dafa practitioners in bright yellow holding balloons. They sang, "Falun Dafa is good" all the way through the parade. The Dafa practitioners' cheerful demeanor and wonderful artistic performances displayed the beauty of Falun Dafa to the spectators and the TV audience.
