(Clearwisdom.net) When I first read the following sentence that Teacher said in the Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A.: "...when we clarify the truth to save them, we need to tailor it to the mindsets modern people have," I didn't understand how to tailor the truth to the people's mindsets and how to achieve the best effect in truth-clarification.
Recently I read Touring North America to Teach the Fa, in which, when answering the question of practitioners about the FGM TV station, Teacher said: "If a form of media is to be in the format of those in the ordinary human society, it has to be made acceptable to everyday people. If it has nothing but articles that expose the persecution, it actually won't have the best results in exposing the evil and saving sentient beings, because the target audience is not cultivators, after all. So we should make these programs more diverse and more interesting to people so that they'll want to watch them. And then also round things out with Dafa programs. Done this way it'll have a greater impact on everyday people. It won't work if it doesn't have any everyday-people type of contents, since you are trying to make it like those in ordinary human society."
I realized that we should be like this when we are clarifying the truth in normal times, too. For example, in talking with friends, I was too focused on talking only about Dafa with them, and although I didn't voice my opinion, I felt that our conversations were meaningless if their topics seemed irrelevant to Dafa. Thus the effects of my truth-clarification were unsatisfactory. I remember that when I was just released from a detention center, I kept telling my parents--who at that point were strongly opposed to my cultivation--the truth about Dafa as long as I was together with them, because I intended to persuade them. However, the effect was just the opposite of what I had hoped for; my father thought that his daughter cared for nothing except Dafa. After I noticed my problem, I stopped mentioning Dafa directly to their faces and, instead, I talked about topics that interested them. Sometimes I even behaved like a spoiled child around them, and greeted them with calls when I was away on business trips. I didn't think it was a waste of time anymore. Then I again told them the truth of Dafa and, gradually, they were no longer opposed to what I said. Moreover, my father returned me all the Dafa books he previously had taken away when he tried to make me stop cultivating.
Meanwhile, I also realized that we should be careful in our use of common words in order to let others understand what we are saying in clarifying the truth. After explaining what the "human skin" is from the angle of the structure of matter in Touring North America to Teach the Fa, Teacher then added, "everything that's visible to the human eye when the body is dissected." Previously I just felt that this sentence clearly explained "human skin," but this time I suddenly perceived the boundless benevolence when Teacher spoke the sentence. Dafa disciples' mastery of modern sciences exists in various degrees, and some people, especially the elderly, might not be able to understand the meaning of the terms. Our Teacher, however, clearly explained "human skin" in very common language in this sentence. We should be like this in clarifying the truth, too. Instead of speaking in an obscure way, we should consider people's mindsets and use different styles of language to speak to different types of people.
The above is my personal understanding. Please kindly point out anything improper.
