News from Abroad
My younger sister Tang Yiwen was detained on May 13, 2000 when she went to Tiananmen Square to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong. She was confined in an underground cell and seriously injured after the police tortured her to the brink of death. On August 29, the Public Security Bureau took her away from home and illegally sentenced her to two years in a forced labor camp. She is at present detained at the Guangzhou City Chatou Female Forced Labor Camp, where she is supervised and monitored by drug offenders. She does not have the freedom to move about and is not allowed to sleep, even at night. She is living an inhuman existence. Yiwen has already served her original sentence, but the Public Security Bureau refuses to release her.
