1. Zhao Ming (Currently being illegally detained in the Beijing Tuanhe Labor Camp):
Zhao Ming was a veteran practitioner at Tsinghua University who quietly offered a great deal of help to practitioners there. He rented a room close to the outside of the North Gate of Tsinghua University. Many practitioners went to his place for group study of the Fa [the principles, the Law of the universe]. Because he was a busy man, he put the door key on a cement ledge above his door. Anyone could get the key and open the door. There were always people coming for group study in the afternoons and evenings. From the latter half of 1998 until July of 1999, there were always Nine Day Lecture Video Workshops [an introduction to the teachings of Falun Gong] in his room for the first nine days of each month. Many new practitioners obtained the Fa there without even knowing who the owner of the place was, they did not even know Zhao Ming's name.
Zhao Ming was a graduate of Tsinghua University's Computer Science Department. He was certainly well paid among his peers, but his life style was very frugal. His personal belongings, like his TV set, VCR, CD player, etc., were for "public use." Anyone who had been to his place would have felt a harmonious energy field there.
2. Hao Yi (Currently also being illegally detained in the Beijing Tuanhe Labor Camp):
After Zhao Ming left Tsinghua to study in Ireland, Hao Yi rented his place in order to keep this good environment for group study. Thus, people still could come and go as usual, and the new practitioners still did not know who the owner of the place was. They did not even know Hao Yi's name.
After July 20, 1999, the misguided officials of the Chinese government always thought Hao Yi was the organizer. Thus, on many occasions, Hao Yi assumed responsibility for everyone. In fact, Hao Yi was just one of the many practitioners there. It was just that those evil villains always judged Falun Dafa practitioners according to their own selfish mentality.
3. "Organization?"
For the most part Tsinghua students went to the Small Woods Practice Site. University staff and adult students were constantly going there for practice. For the convenience of students' schedules, there were three times for daily group practice: mornings, afternoons, and evenings. There were also group study sessions in several locations in the afternoon and evening. On summer mornings, there were usually about seventy to eighty practitioners doing the morning practice at the site. It was all voluntary. In every group practice session, at least one volunteer would assist other practitioners in their movements and in teaching new comers how to do the exercises. Practitioners rotated being assistants. Everyday, there was a different person.
After July 20, 1999, police often asked who the assistant for the Small Woods Practice Site was. Many practitioners would say "I don't know." It's not that they knew but did not want to tell them. They really did not know. The practitioners who attended the three daily sessions of group practice were different. The person who brought the tape player was different every day. The organizers of the group studies changed everyday. The practitioners who volunteered to teach the exercises each day were different. Thus, those evil villains were trying to figure out who on earth was the "official leader."
4. Morality rising and always considering others before oneself:
Practitioners all knew how to upgrade one's moral nature through cultivation in order to be a morally noble person. After they practiced Falun Gong, these university students all tried to do good deeds starting within their daily lives. For example, they would take the initiative to get water for other's use, clean up the lounges and help professors clean up blackboards, etc.
5. Anti-Corruption:
Currently, it is commonplace to see various forms of corruption and other degenerate things happening everywhere in Chinese society. The University campus was no exception. There were three Falun Gong practitioners on the Students Science Association of the Precision Instrumentation Department of Tsinghua University. They were Xu Zhiguang (Chairman), Huang Kui (vice Chairman), and Wang Xin (vice Chairman). They were very strict with themselves in the Association. One time, the Association cooperated with a university company to successfully sponsor an event. In order to thank the Association, the company gave the Association several thousand yuan in cash (500 hundred yuan is the average monthly salary for a Chinese worker) on the spot with no receipt. At that moment, some non-practitioners suggested that the VIP members of the Association find a good restaurant for a wild dinner. In response to this suggestion, Xu Zhiguang talked with them all evening in order to convince them that though the money was earned by the VIP members, it was still the public money of the Association. It was not permissible to use it for private consumption. If everyone really wanted to celebrate, the whole dinner would be on him, as a thank you gift for everyone's good work. In the end, everyone was touched by his sincerity. They said that since the Chairman himself was doing this, they had nothing to complain about. Everyone ended up pooling their money together and holding a celebration.
These three Falun Gong practitioners graduated in 1999 cum laude and were admitted into PhD programs with examinations exempted. Huang Kui was one of the three Honor Graduates in the Precision Instrumentation Department. In more recent times Huang Kui was charged with "subverting the government." He has already been in detention for one year and he is facing future sentencing. Xu Zhiguang was forced out of the University and no one knows where he is now. Wang Xin has already been detained for eight months and there is no further information about him available.
