(Clearwisdom.net) My sister and I are twins. More coincidentally, our birthday was the first day of the first lunar month based on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Now my sister lives in China and I in Canada.
Our hearts are connected. From one simple gesture, one of us can tell what the other is thinking. Our interests and career experiences are surprisingly similar. We always have the same view on a specific matter. This kind of empathy and similarity could not be explained and understood even by our mother.
My sister and I had never wanted to be separated from each other. However, our destinies arranged for us to live far away from each other. Except for my twin sister, my whole family immigrated to Canada. At the time of separation, both my sister and I were in great pain. We used to make phone calls to each other every day. It had almost become a habit for us to say a few words that we both could understand without further explanation.
However, a terrible thing came between us unexpectedly. I never thought that the kind of propaganda that blots out the sky and covers up the earth would appear again in China, but it really created a gap between my twin sister and me.
In the fall of 1996, one of my best friends went back to China to visit her family. When she returned she told me there were a lot of people in China practicing Falun Gong. My heart was moved when I heard the words of Falun Gong. I knew this was what I had been looking for my whole life. After waiting for many years, I finally stepped onto the path of cultivating Falun Dafa. Like many other practitioners, I could not express my inner feeling with words. I have experienced the magnificence and wonder that is brought up by one's assimilation to benevolence. We practitioners would like to share the benevolence and compassion with everyone and let everyone know that the purpose of one's life is to return to his (or her) true self.
I had never expected that my twin sister and I would have different views on this important matter, but she totally accepted all the fabrications and lies from the Chinese Government's newspapers, radio and TV stations. Without a second thought, she had written off Falun Gong practitioners' aspirations and achievements and the fact that millions of people have benefited from practicing Falun Gong. My heart was heavy every time I made a phone call to her across the ocean. I often felt sorry for my sister since she could not cherish the most valuable opportunity of her life when Dafa is being spread.
However, an incident happened last fall that changed her view of Falun Gong. My sister told me this experience over the phone.
Last fall, her work unit organized a trip for the officials. Among them, a director's wife was a Falun Gong practitioner. During the trip of 2 days and 2 nights, my sister, together with more than 10 other people, asked this old lady many questions, which were all answered in a peaceful and convincing way. "She has really convinced most of us present. I felt that what Falun Gong teaches really makes sense."
She said that this old lady looked different from others. Her face was so smooth and shining that they could not compare with her, though they were all younger. The old lady said that she'd previously had three serious illnesses, which all disappeared after she practiced Falun Gong. She also said that she was arrested 4 times since Falun Gong was persecuted; however, she kept practicing after she had been released. My sister told me that her mind was also changed. My sister said that although she might not practice Falun Gong as we do, she felt that what Falun Gong teaches indeed makes sense.
After the telephone conversation, I cried. I wholeheartedly admire the practitioners in China who have stepped forward to clarify the truth to people. My sister does not practice Falun Gong now, but she often says, "My sister and her family practice Falun Gong and I really feel happy for them."
The New Year's bell is about to ring again. In the days when the whole country will be celebrating the New Year, what should I say to my twin sister?
I sincerely hope that all kind Chinese people will learn that "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" is good. I sincerely wish the precious Chinese people could cherish this rare chance of cultivation and have a good future!
