The Police in Da'an City, Jilin Province Persecute Practitioners

1. On the evening of June 8, 2001, female practitioner Li Yanqiu from Da'an City, Jilin Province was posting truth-clarifying materials. Policeman Lu Pengcheng saw her and called the director of Politics and Security Section of the Police Department Chen Yamin, vice director Li Aimin, and policeman Wei Guangren. They handcuffed her and took her to the Politics and Security Section of the Police Department. On the way, Wei Guangren punched and kicked the practitioner, especially on her head and face, shouting, "You see, I am an evil policeman."

Arriving at the police department, the practitioner could no longer stand and had to sit down on the floor due to the beating. Wei Guangren and Lu Pengcheng kicked her and dragged her up. They handcuffed both her hands to the upper door of a big cabinet. The director and vice-director took turns interrogating her, denying her sleep. During the interrogation, Wei Guangren, Li Aimin, and Lu Pengcheng slapped her in the face causing her mouth to bleed.

Because she refused to tell where she got the truth-clarifying materials, they cuffed her hands behind her back and added weights to the handcuffs. Policeman Wei Guangren said ferociously, "If you don't tell, we'll put you in a sack and throw you into the river."

After two days and nights' interrogation in the Politics and Security Section, they sent Li Yanqiu to the local detention center. She couldn't get up from the bed during the detention. She went on a hunger strike as a protest, refusing food and water. On the 8^th day of the hunger strike, director of the Politics and Security Section Chen Yamin, vice director Li Aimin, heads of the detention center Mr. Ding and Mr. Chang, together took several male inmates to force-feed her with a mixture of corn flour and salt water. On July 2, after Li Yanqiu had been on a hunger strike for 19 days, force-fed twice, had almost lost her heartbeat and blood pressure and was obviously on the verge of death, the detention center notified her family to take her home.

2. Female practitioner Geng Jiqiu from Da'an City, Jilin Province was posting truth-clarifying materials on the evening of June 21, 2001 when the director of the Politics and Security Section Chen Yamin, who was hiding nearby, caught her. He called a policeman named Li on his cell phone. The two took Geng Jiqiu to the Politics and Security Section for interrogation and asked her for the source of the truth-clarifying materials. At midnight, they called over vice director Li Aimin to continue the interrogation. Geng didn't tell them and was sent to the local detention center at 9:00 a.m. on June 22.

Geng went on a hunger strike as a protest. On the 6^th day, people from the 610 Office of the Political and Judiciary Committee, the Police Department and the Politics and Security Section force-fed her with the corn flour and salt water mixture. During the hunger strike, Geng twice slipped into a coma. She was released on the 10^th day when she had very low blood pressure and was on the verge of death.

Other perpetrators include the Director of the Politics and Security Section Chen Yamin, vice director Li Aimin, Cao Weijie, Ding and Chang from the detention center, and several male inmates.

3. Female practitioner Wang Dianxia from Da'an City is a 60-year-old grandmother. She was arrested by the local police and put in the detention center when she and other practitioners openly performed the Falun Gong exercises together during the Chinese lunar New Year season in 2000. Her family bailed her out 31 days later with 3,000 Yuan. (Note: the average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.)

In October 2000, when the local police found truth-clarifying flyers exposing the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin and his vicious group, they suspected that Wang Dianxia had printed them. On October 15, a local policeman from Changhong Street named Zhao broke into Wang's home and took the elderly woman to the Politics and Security Section. Seven to eight policemen then went to her home and illegally searched the house. Not only did they take away the Falun Dafa books and Teacher's portrait, they also cut into pieces the wallpaper where the portrait had been hanging. Wang was locked in the Politics and Security Section and was interrogated by Chen Yamin and his men. During the three days of continuous interrogation, she didn't follow their orders and demands. Ever since then, the street policeman Liu Qingbo and the Party Secretary of the residential committee have been coming to her home to check on her.

Wang's son feared that his mother would be arrested again by the police, so he invited her to stay with his family in another city.

Wang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa with other practitioners on December 15, 2000, and safely returned to her son's home. As a result, she became a target of the local police where her son lives.

On February 4, 2001, Wang wanted to go back to her home and do some laundry for her husband. On the 4^th day when she was back, she ran into the vice director of the Politics and Security Section Li Aimin. Li tricked her into going to the Politics and Security Section. She asked several times to be allowed to go home, but they refused. At around 7:00 p.m., the director Chen Yamin and vice director Li Aimin carried Wang to the car and took her to the detention center, followed by Ma Guizhi.

Wang suffered from nose bleeding, dizziness, and blood in her stool during the detention. She also went on a hunger strike for a day and a half. Hearing the news, her son hurried to see her. The director of the Politics and Security Section Chen Yamin said to him that his mother was going to be sentenced to three years in labor camp. Her son couldn't bear to see such persecution of his mother so he invited Chen Yamin and his men for dinner twice and spent 2,000 Yuan. Each time Chen took over ten policemen with him, including Wei Guangren. Finally they released Wang on the 27^th day.

4. Wang Dianxia's daughter, Lu Xiujan, is also a practitioner. Lu went out posting truth-clarifying literature on June 8, 2001, and was discovered by the policemen hiding nearby. Lu Pengcheng and Wei Guangren called Chen Yamin and Li Aimin. They put handcuffs on Lu Xiujan and took her to the Politics and Security Section. On the way, Wei Guangren punched and kicked her, shouting at the same time, "So, you see what an evil policeman is like." Lu felt dizzy and fell to the ground, unable to get up or speak. A policeman named Cao said, "She's pretending." So Lu Pengcheng used a pen to jab at her throat and hit her head. He threatened her, "If you don't tell us the source of the materials, you will be sentenced to three years in labor camp." And they refused to return the 3,000 Yuan Lu had turned in previously as bail. (Note: In order to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal, the local police force them to turn in a certain amount of money as a bail. If they go to Beijing, the money 'will not be returned.)

Lu had been in a coma and kept vomiting. Seeing she was in bad condition, they sent her to a clinic. But, they took her out after the medical treatment and interrogated her for 36 hours, denying her sleep. They sent her to the local detention center at 10:00 p.m. the following night. In the detention center, Lu slipped into a coma again and vomited.

She was on a hunger strike for 19 days. On the 6^th day of her hunger strike, Chen Yamin, Li Aimin, and their men force-fed her twice with the corn flour and salt water mixture. The two force-feedings were done while she was in coma. She was on the verge of death when her mother, Wang Dianxia, received the notice to take her home on June 30. She was carried home on a stretcher.

At 8:00 a.m. on July 2, the 3^rd day when Lu was back home, the Changhong Street policeman Liu Qingbo came to their home and searched around. In a few minutes, Li Aimin and Cao Weijie broke into the house. They took out a warrant and declared that Wang Dianxia had been sentenced to one year in labor camp. Just then, the director of Legal System Section in the Police Department Li Wenrong and the staff of the Politics and Security Section Ma Guirong came in. Before Wang Dianxia could completely put her pants on, they handcuffed her. Her daughter, Lu Xiujuan, was lying in bed and was unable to get up. Wang held on to her daughter's foot and wouldn't leave. Seeing this, kind-hearted people watching shed tears. When the police took hold of the handcuffs and carried Wang into the police van driven by the head of the detention center, the elderly people in the neighborhood said in tears, "The Falun Gong practitioners are good people. How can you treat them like that?"

On the way to Heizuizi Labor Camp in Changchun, Wang defecated blood four times. When they arrived at the labor camp, several policemen took her by the arms and carried her upstairs. The medical check showed that she had heart disease and high blood pressure so the labor camp refused to take her. Returning from the labor camp, she had a heart attack and was finally released.

5. On the afternoon of July 5, 2001, when practitioner Li Wei of Da'an City, Jilin Province returned home, he was stopped by Wei Guangren and Lu Pengcheng, the policemen from Jinhua Street Police Station. They dragged him to the Politics and Security Section of the Police Department and intended to do a body search. When he refused, vice director Li Aimin slapped Li Wei in the face. Wei Guangren came up to join in the beating, shouting at the same time, "Yeah, all right, I am an evil policeman." After the beating, they handcuffed him and started the interrogation.

Li's neighbor saw his arrest and told his parents. His parents demanded that the Politics and Security Section release him. Ignoring the request, the police handcuffed Li to a chair for the whole night and sent him to the local detention center the following day without proper evidence of any crime or violation of law. On July 18, Li had a severe stomachache. The Politics and Security Section got the message but did not send anybody to see him. On July 19, Li was in extreme pain and was rolling on the ground. Later he lay there motionless with his life in danger. After the guard had reported his condition many times, they finally set him free.
