1. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Wang Xiaoshu Severely Tortured in Baoding Labor Camp; Unclear Whether She is Alive or Dead.
According to reliable sources, at 9:00 p.m. on August 5, 2001, the police in Baoding, Hebei Province arrested three practitioners from an apartment building in Xinshi District. Two of them escaped the evil's grasp with strong righteous minds and firm faith in Dafa and Teacher. The other one, Wang Xiaoshu (from Houying Village in Daying Township of Xiong County, Hebei Province), has been severely tortured in Baoding Labor Camp.
According to policemen in Xiong County, the police in the Baoding Camp asked them to come and identify Wang Xiaoshu. They went there and found that Wang's neck was clamped in a rack that left her unable to move. The police wouldn't set her free even when she had to use the bathroom. So she could only defecate on the spot where she was confined. So far she has been on hunger strike for over 20 days, not taking food or water. The police force-feed her every five days. Because of this torture, she is in a state almost too horrible to look at. Even the policemen from Xiong County couldn't bear to look at her when they went to the camp. They wanted to take her with them back to Xiong County. But the cruel guards in the labor camp said, "You don't know how to deal with her. We do. If she won't give us information about other practitioners, we won't let her go until she dies. Several [Falun Gong] practitioners have died in our labor camp. It doesn't matter if there's one more."
Whether Wang is now alive or dead in Baoding Labor Camp is unknown.
Let all the practitioners and people with a conscience around the world send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil forces that persecute this woman. Let us help her strengthen her righteous thoughts and get out of the evil den.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Number of Practitioners Illegally Detained in Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp Has Far Exceeded 1,000
Now the number of practitioners illegally detained in Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province, has far exceeded 1,000. Some practitioners did some things wrong and against their will because of great pressure. After they got out of the labor camp, they soon realized their mistakes and made solemn statements declaring their determination in practicing Falun Dafa. For this, the police imprisoned them in the labor camp again. Because of the large number of illegally detained practitioners there, the labor camp feels it is short of guards. It is now getting manpower from other labor camps and prisons in Jilin Province, preparing to intensify the persecution.
3. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Practitioners Use Many Different Methods to Clarify the Truth and Eliminate the Evil
Recently, though the evil forces destroyed the place where practitioners produce truth-clarifying materials in Jining City, Shandong Province, the practitioners aren't waiting and they aren't relying on others. They are taking the initiative of Dafa disciples, using many different of methods to clarify the truth and eliminate the evil. A prime example of this was on September 1, 2001, when hundreds of Dafa banners appeared on the main streets of Jining City overnight. They read "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance," "Falun Dafa is a Righteous Cultivation Way," "Restore the Reputation of Teacher." The unprincipled officials and police were horrified. They started a large-scale search the following day.
Before they went out to hang up the banners, the practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts together, three times that night, to eliminate the evil forces and to make anyone who would interfere or ruin this Fa-rectification action stay home. Additionally, each practitioner that participated in the work maintained righteous thoughts and eliminated the evil at all times. Finally, all of them returned safely. The practitioners deeply felt the power of righteous thoughts.
4. [Jining City, Shandong Province] "I Get 3,000 Yuan For Every Practitioner I Arrest."
One morning, after following an older lady for a while in Jining City, Shandong Province, a plainclothes policeman rushed over and knocked her down. The elderly woman screamed with fright. The plainclothes policeman searched her bag and found no Falun Dafa materials. He knew that he had the wrong person so he blurted out, "My job is to capture Falun Gong people. I get 3,000 Yuan for every one I arrest." Hearing this, the older lady was furious. (Translator's note: the average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.)
5. Family Members' Righteous Behavior Deters Bad People
One morning in December of 2000, when I was doing housework, several people came to my home and asked me to attend a meeting and to study something there. I asked them what I would be studying. They dared not tell. I was actually quite clear: they wanted me to attend a brainwashing class. I kept only one thought in my mind: I will never go. They realized that I really wouldn't go. So they said angrily, "If you don't go, we will put you in prison." Just then, my sister-in-law came to visit me. She immediately went downstairs to call my husband. One of the men tried to drag me down the stairs. At the time, my son was in bed sleeping, but he woke up. Seeing the situation, he shouted loudly, "Get out! Get your hands off my mom!" That man was shocked and let go of me. Soon my husband arrived. He was not afraid of their threats and said firmly: "We haven't committed any crimes, we've done nothing wrong. Why are you trying to take her away? We won't be fooled. We won't go. Go report to anyone you like, we don't care." My sister-in-law also spoke her mind to them. Those bad men found themselves in a field of righteous power and felt weak. So they went away.
I know it was Teacher who protected me. Teacher's great compassion, a disciple's righteous mind, plus my family members' righteous behavior effectively resisted the evil's persecution, giving me an opportunity to continue to assist in the Fa-rectification.
Let all the families of practitioners realize the nature of the evil and stand up to expose and oppose the persecution and the wrong done to us, thus awakening the conscience of people of the world.
6. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] The Police Offer Rewards For Capturing Practitioners Printing Truth-Clarifying Materials
Recently, Dafa posters and truth-clarifying materials have often appeared on the streets of Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. The old evil forces are terrified. On some streets the police posted notices to the people that if they capture practitioners involved in printing the materials, they will get a reward of 2,000 Yuan for each person they capture. The notice says that this was a directive from higher authorities.
Zhuozhou City TV Station also reported that three practitioners who were printing Dafa materials were arrested in the city. In addition, we know that there is a counter at the entrance of the Xinhua Bookstore that sells books and CDs smearing Dafa in order to deceive people.
7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Labor Camps Receive Verbal Instruction: "As Long As They Are Not Dead, Take Them."
The labor camps usually don't take practitioners who are physically in bad condition as a result of police torture (according to the rules, they are not supposed to take them in). Recently, however, a verbal instruction was passed down from the police to the labor camps: "As long as they are not dead, take them."
These few words reveal the nature of the wicked people.
8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] The Qiaodong District Is Going to Hold Brainwashing Classes

9. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Taoyuan Police Station Persecutes Dafa Practitioners
He Wenyao is a teacher in his 20's at the No. 13 Middle School. After July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to lawfully appeal on behalf of Falun Gong because of his firm belief in the universal principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance". His school suspended him for several months, and officers from the Taoyuan Police Station detained him and extorted money from him. Last December, He Wenyao went to Beijing again to validate Dafa. He was arrested and sent back, but he was able to escape by using righteous thoughts. However, he has been forced to abandon his home to avoid further persecution.
Since July 20, 1999, officers from the Taoyuan Police Station have harassed many Dafa practitioners in the villages nearby. The perpetrators followed practitioners and searched their homes for Dafa books and materials. During the New Year's Day and Spring Festival periods of 2001, the perpetrators arrested or deceived some practitioners into going to the police station and detained them there for several months. Some other practitioners were detained, sent to labor camps, or extorted large sums of money (3000, 5000, or 10,000 Yuan) for appealing in Beijing. These practitioners' human rights as citizens were seriously violated. In addition, practitioner Huang Jianling was arrested for clarifying the truth of Dafa last year. She was then sent to a labor camp, where she is still being detained. Here we sternly warn these wicked people: those who persecute Dafa practitioners will meet their retribution from heaven.

10. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Dafa Practitioner Lu Guizhen Arrested by Police
In the early morning of June 11, 2001, Lu Guizhen, a 56-years-old practitioner, was arrested by the police for hanging up Dafa banners. She was then held in a detention center, where she went on a hunger strike for 9 days in protest. On August 4, after being detained for 53 days and paying 400 Yuan for the food, Lu was released.
At around 9 AM on August 17, four policemen from the No. 2 group of the city traffic department went to Lu Guizhen's home. They told her that they needed her to identify a suspect. They then took her to the detention center, where she was sentenced to one year of labor camp. An officer in the Public Security Department of the city, Gu Chenglin, promised Lu's family that if the labor camp did not accept her, then she would be released. Later, the Wanjia Labor Camp refused to take her. However, the head of No. 2 group of the city traffic department Li Dabin still tried to extort 5,000 Yuan from her family members, threatening to keep Lu in the detention center. Currently, Lu Guizhen is still being held in the No. 2 Detention Center of Shuangcheng City.
11. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Extort Money from Dafa Practitioner Zhou Zhichang's Wife, Wang Hongqiu
Zhou Zhichang was one of the Dafa practitioners who were tortured to death by Chinese authorities. (See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2000/5/20/8979.html for the AP report carried by Clearwisdom). On May 16, 2001, Zhou's wife Wang Hongqiu was sent to the Shuangcheng Detention Center. During her detention, Wang developed high blood pressure and coronary heart disease. Afraid of taking responsibility, the "4.28" Office of the Public Security Department planned to release her. Seeing an opportunity, city official Zhang Shiyue extorted three to four thousand Yuan from Zhou Zhiliang (the younger brother of Zhou Zhichang) and asked him to pay for a banquet that cost 750 Yuan. When family members go to request Zhang Shiyue to release practitioners, he routinely asks them for a banquet that costs about 1,000 Yuan.
12. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Dafa Practitioners Arrested by the Police
Dafa practitioner Ba Yimin, Huang Shuzhen, and Zhao Lanfang was arrested by the police while clarifying the truth of Dafa in Lianxing Township. The three practitioners' homes were then searched by Zhang Shiyue and his associates. It was reported that the perpetrators put handcuffs and shackles on Ba Yimin, and severely tortured and interrogated him.
13. [Siping City, Liaoning Province] Siping Male Labor Camp Transfers Dozens of Dafa Practitioners to Liaoyuan City for Continued Persecution
We were told that dozens of practitioners previously detained in the Siping Male Labor Camp have been transferred to Liaoyuan City. The transfer is most likely for the purpose of further persecution.
14. [China] "You Have Caught the Mother of Our Police Chief!"
A plain-clothes policeman arrested an elderly female Dafa practitioner while she was posting truth-clarifying materials. The policeman then took her to the police station for his reward, but he was told to come back the next day for it. When he came back the next day, the person in charge scolded him, "You want a reward? You're in trouble! Do you know whom you arrested? You have caught the mother of our police chief!"
15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Police Arrest Several Practitioners
Currently, the local police are investigating possible sources of the Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Eight or nine people have been arrested, and many others are being watched. Also, the police destroyed a site storing Dafa materials in the Santaizi region of Huanggu District and arrested several practitioners. We hope that local practitioners will be prepared and watch for their safety.
16. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Call for Practitioners in Shijiazhuang City and Anshan City to Resist the Fa-distorting "X Scripture" and Other Actions that Distort Dafa
Recently, a book named "X Scripture" was passed around by a so-called lay Buddhist in Shijiazhuang City and its nearby areas. The book was copied, read, and passed around by some people, which severely harmed the cultivation of practitioners and the way Dafa was being spread.
We want to remind everyone that this is yet another form of damaging Dafa by the evil forces, utilizing the attachments of some individuals. Let all of us practitioners firmly remember Teacher's words and stick to the principle of practicing only one cultivation way. Let us be responsible to Dafa and to ourselves.
We were also told that in Anshan City of Liaoning Province, there is a similar case of damaging Dafa. Another so-called "X Scripture" was passed around, and someone called himself a "Great XX." Furthermore, another person compiled a book named "The Road Toward XX". These people intentionally distorted the meaning of Teacher's scriptures and the Clearwisdom editors' articles. We hope that Dafa practitioners can see the Fa as the teacher and firmly resist these actions that distort Dafa and embody enlightenment along evil paths.
17. [Boxing County, Shandong Province] Criminal Acts of Local Officials
Recently, seventeen Dafa practitioners in Boxing County were kidnapped. Seven or eight of them were sentenced to prison terms, and others were sent to labor camps.
