I have worked in a media office for the last few years, I was already practicing Falun Gong when I got this job, in fact I got the job because I practiced Falun Gong. I thought to myself, why would such a big multinational media company hire someone like me without any experience? Although there was no human explanation, I knew that my cultivation was arranged this way.
From the first death of a practitioner, I treated the incident to be a personal issue and did not tell anyone about it -- but of course in time I realized that the persecution was not about practitioners but the world and universe.
Each day I gained more strength from Dafa and began to share my understanding and news about Falun Dafa to the newsroom, from the news assistant, to the journalist, to key editors and ultimately the Chief of Staff. In fact I was recently offered a role to become a reporter -- and my belief in Falun Gong was highlighted as an advantage in my aspiration to report the truth.
The more I learn the Fa I have come to realize that the more each event, no matter how small or how big, is directly related to the Universal Law. When there are times when I am advised to lie or to be aggressive and be influenced by greed, I have an opportunity to explain that my character does not support such things and that I believe in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance.
I have noticed that the media releases sent by practitioners do get attention, in fact when speaking to different news organizations -- journalists know which piece of news came from which media release -- so the news is getting through. However I think it is through our wisdom, that news is able to reach those that can help rectify the issue. But lately we have received the response that we are sending too much news? According to my understanding this does not mean to stop notifying the media, but rather maybe there are other ways to make sure our message is heard. For instance I am aware that practitioners in China use their wisdom to tell the truth about the Fa, like put pamphlet in library books. It is not always obvious it can be subtle messages.
I wrote this article today because each day I speak with journalists and they often see the tragedy occurring in China regarding each death and the extreme violence inflicted on victims, and their hearts are moved. But due to the nature of news it is not always broadcast. This gives me hope that the Fa is reaching far and wide. In time I am confident we will constantly enlighten to passing the message on, in an appropriate way so we do justice to the representation of the Fa.
I often help with sending news to all media outlets. We have learned to do it in a more sophisticated and professional manner, this may not matter at a surface level, but if it helps get the message through the results are evident. For instance the article:
AFP: Falun Gong Family From France Seized During Visit to China, Report Says (AUG 27, 2001) was almost a direct replica of the news reported from Falun Infonet. This is a very powerful manifestation of the Fa.
When I get the latest news regarding Falun Dafa I often share it with the newsroom. One particular highlight was the story of Tan Yongjie who escaped from China to America with 3rd degree burns on his body. Journalists and editors listened with extreme interest and admiration, in fact one journalist said " I love those stories...it makes us think we have no problems!" This was a journalist who I had purposely avoided in the past because of my own judgments about his character - I seemed to be wrong. I saw the same journalist today, he was having a bad day, I reminded him of his comments some time ago, he smiled and said "thanks for that" and I felt that it wasn't just the story itself that lightened him it was an aspect of the power of the Fa.
