On July 2nd, we traveled from Rio de Janeiro to the capital of Brazil (Brasilia) to teach the exercises and to clarify the facts about the persecution of Dafa in China. The person who invited us was the host of a large annual mystical fair and he wanted us to present Falun Dafa there. In addition, he expressed that he was appalled by the persecution in China and sincerely wanted to let all the people of Brasilia know the truth about Dafa.
On the morning of July 3rd, our host took us to the major news agencies and arranged interviews for us on the spot. While being interviewed at Journal Do Brasilia, a major newspaper, we were able to explain the facts about the persecution as well as the recent news of the 15 women who were tortured to death at the Wanjia labor camp. After the interview they took pictures of us doing the exercises outside.
Later that day, we went to the fair and were given a small booth to display our Dafa information, books and videotapes. They also set up a special 2-hour exercise instruction and information session that was heavily publicized. During the exercises, Globo, the largest TV network in Brazil, came to the fair and recorded the exercise session, interviewed many of the participants, and then interviewed us. The interviewer was shocked to learn about the persecution in China and asked many questions that allowed us to clarify the truth. During the informational session, we gave a brief overview of Dafa and then participants asked questions.
Even though we were only in Brasilia for 2 days, thanks to the efforts of our host, the trip was very successful. It was moving to see our host, a non-practitioner, who had only read about Dafa on the Internet, become so quickly involved in Hong Fa and Fa Rectification! It was also very 'eye-opening' to see how he was able to go directly to the news agencies offices' and set up interviews without contacting anybody beforehand. He even wanted to take us to the Chinese Consulate so we could set up a peaceful demonstration there (unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do this). In the 2 days that we were in Brasilia, he told everybody he knows about Dafa and he even passed out Dafa flyers to all the people eating in a restaurant near his home.
Since there are currently no practice sites in Brasilia, future visits are being planned. Due to the efforts of our host and the media reports, we expect that there will be many people in Brasilia who will want to start practicing very soon. Also, there is a large group from the fair who expressed much interest in starting a local practice site.
