On the afternoon of April 3rd, a special symposium on the "Human Rights Situations In China" was held at the UN headquarters in Geneva. This symposium was jointly organized by the renowned French "International Federation of Human Rights" and the United States' "Kennedy Foundation." Since the symposium took place during the 57th session of the Commission On Human Rights, it attracted significant attention from both government delegates and members of Non Government Organizations (NGOs). Falun Gong spokesman Mr. Erping Zhang described the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin's government, and provided specific responses to various questions raised by the audience. During his speech, Mr. Zhang brought forth indisputable facts regarding atrocities committed against tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners. He pointed out the Chinese government's disregard for the worldwide condemnation and its ongoing efforts to generate false charges against Falun Gong. He urged nations worldwide to strengthen their resolve and to dedicate their best efforts in stopping Jiang and his cohorts from trampling on the human rights of Chinese citizens. The well-known British human rights scholar from the University of London, Mr. Robin Munro, was also invited to speak at this symposium. He talked about the Chinese government's use of mental institutions to mistreat Falun Gong practitioners. Another NGO official denounced the Chinese government's habit of blatantly violating the Constitution by applying illegal and fabricated charges against Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong representatives methodically exposed the fallacies in the so-called "Tiananmen Self-Immolation Incident." Created and directed by the government, this incident used censorship of the press and fabricated stories to frame Falun Gong. However, there is no way to bury the truth. The real story is now being revealed to the whole world. During the current session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, many western media representatives debunked the insidious tactics adopted by the Chinese oppressors from different perspectives. Numerous attendees of the symposium expressed their sympathy for the plight of Falun Gong practitioners, and voiced disdain and indignation over their persecution at the hands of the Chinese government. At the same time, they highly praised the peaceful resolve and courage of Falun Gong practitioners.
