Two years ago today, 10,000 Falun Dafa practitioners gathered in Beijing to make a peaceful appeal—an appeal which, looking back, can be seen as the prelude to a peaceful, reasonable, and fearless quest for the freedom of belief. Since then Dafa practitioners have, from the point of view of their personal cultivation, melted into the process of Fa-rectification. Facing the vicious persecution, numerous Falun Dafa practitioners disregarded their own safety and joined the current of Fa-rectification in the human world. Here, we would like to commemorate Falun Dafa practitioners' peaceful and glorious appeal on April 25^th two years ago, and at the same time express the following statement to the Chinese government: Stop Jiang Zemin and his accomplices from persecuting Falun Gong! [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Two Falun Dafa Practitioners were Beaten and Fell to Their Deaths from a 7th Floor Window. It happened in the Changchun Developmental District. Dafa practitioners Wang Hongxiang, Xiao Jinyu, Zhang Jian, Jia Shenglin, Bai Mingxu, Huang Lijuan, Liu Lei, Mr. Tian, and Ms. Sun were inside their apartment, preparing some Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials, when about 30 to 40 policemen broke in, smashing the locks and forcing open the apartment door. The policemen put bags over the heads of five people and beat them unconscious. They used steel bars, leather belts, electric batons and other torture devices in their abuse. Liu Lei and Mr. Tian' wife were severely beaten and fell to their deaths from a seventh floor window. The other seven people in the apartment were illegally detained. Jiang Zemin and his accomplices have committed murder once again and incurred another bloody debt! [Masanjia Labor Camp, Liaoning Province] The Newest Deception at the Masanjia Labor Camp According to a reliable insider, under the direction of officials from high-level government sources, the Masanjia Labor Camp in Liaoning Province is going to make arrangements for Chinese and foreign reporters to interview certain, selected and previously screened Falun Gong practitioners who were "reformed" after being sentenced to forced labor. The inside source told us that the authorities would transfer those practitioners who have not been "reformed" to other camps inside the main camp. Since the Masanjia camp is huge, there are many places to hide inmates. Only the "reformed" practitioners to whom the authorities would allow access would remain there. This is another plot, concocted by Jiang Zemin and his underlings, to damage Falun Dafa and hurt the practitioners' reputation. These thugs are acting in this manner because they again want to deceive the public, present a favorable picture of the camp to the world, paint over their evil deeds, save their reputation, and further advance their political objectives. Su Jing, one of the heads of the Masanjia Labor Camp, who has tortured many practitioners, will be responsible for and in charge of the visit. Please expose this newest conspiracy of Jiang Zemin' criminal regime and restrain their vicious activities. [Shijingshan District, Beijing] The Depraved Behavior of the Wicked Police Is Intolerable to Heavenly Principles In December 2000, I went to Beijing to validate Dafa at Tiananmen Square. When I said out loud "Falun Dafa is Good," I was beaten up and then sent to the Beijing Shijingshan District Detention Center. As we did not cooperate with the vicious forces and did not state our names and addresses as requested, the brutal police officers tortured us with various kinds of devices. It made no difference to them whether we were male or female, young or old. All Dafa practitioners were severely abused and humiliated. A 30-year-old female Dafa practitioner was very pretty. As she did not reveal her name, even after being tortured, the debased, male police officers forcibly stripped off her clothes, spread her four limbs apart, tied her up, and then took a picture of her naked body. They showed her the picture, cursed her, and threatened to show this picture to the public. [Guangdong Province] Dafa Practitioner Pan Dongmei , Employed at the Guangdong Broadcast Station, was Humiliated in Jail Practitioner Pan Dongmei (female), 22 years old, worked at the Guangdong Broadcast Station. She went to validate Dafa in Beijing. On April 3, 2001, she was arrested in Tiananmen Square and was detained in No. 606 cell at the Changying Detention Center of Chaoyang District. On April 4, she was transferred to No. 605 cell. From April 5 to 8, while she was tied to a frame for 72 hours, she was injected with drugs and force-fed. The guard did not permit her to use the toilet to empty her bladder or move her bowels. After she was freed from the 72-hour torture, her arms had become completely numb and her trousers were soiled with urine and excrement. Between April 8^th and 10^th, the police guard interrogated her several times, both day and night. They used the tactic of sleep deprivation, not allowing her to sleep or rest. From 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on April 11, the No. 032004 interrogator (Kang Jianjun) handcuffed Ms. Pan to a male Dafa practitioner. There were several prisoners in this cell, both Dafa practitioners and common criminals. The interrogator forcibly slipped off the male practitioner' trousers and pulled him in front of her, to force her to "have a look." Ms. Pan did not comply. The interrogator forced Ms. Pan to take off her trousers to let others present see her private parts. After Ms. Pan refused to comply with the interrogator' aims, he cruelly burned her chin with a cigarette lighter until many blisters formed. The male practitioner was burned even more severely. Both their faces were burned black. Without consideration for their physical agony, the interrogator used dirty, stiff paper to wipe off the black smoke smudges from the two practitioners' faces. The police' behavior aroused the anger of practitioners and common criminals alike who shared the same cell. Interrogators: Zhou Changwang (male), No. 031536, Kang Jianjun (male): No. 032004 [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] A Pregnant Practitioner in Hengyang City Miscarried in Jail A Falun Dafa practitioner in a Southern Chinese city had been detained 2 months and held a hunger strike for nearly the whole time. One of his teeth was knocked out during force-feeding. His family members wanted to post bail for his release, but they were refused. They asked for help from an attorney, but in vain. A female practitioner in Hengyang City was detained during her pregnancy. Under pressure from a "higher authority," her husband divorced her. While she was in jail, she miscarried. In another case, police officers from a city in Hunan Province beat a pregnant practitioner to the point of being disabled. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Teacher' New Scripture Resounds Above the Dalian City Detention Center and Silences the Vicious Forces At about 10:30pm on April 22, 2001, the words of Falun Dafa resounded above the Dalian City Detention Center. In order to let practitioners in illegal detention hear Teacher' new Scripture "Jianyi"[Suggestion] as soon as possible, several practitioners--at the risk of being detained again themselves-- placed a loudspeaker near the Dalian City Detention Center. They all returned home safely. This action provided a powerful example of how the vicious forces can be suffocated. The brave deed greatly encouraged the practitioners who are being detained in this extremely dismal environment. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Jiang Zemin' Criminal Regime Allocated More Than 4,000,000 Yuan [about $0.5 million] to Construct a "Transformation Station" in Chaoyang District It is said that Jiang Zemin' criminal regime allocated more than 4,000,000 Yuan [about $0.5 million] to construct the "transformation station" in the Chaoyang District of Changchun City. It is to be finished by the end of August 2001. Despite numerous unemployed workers lacking an assured source for their future livelihood, Jiang Zemin and his accomplices have willfully squandered the citizens' hard-earned money on this camp, which will be used to persecute good people. This is an unbelievable waste, an act that should be condemned by all kindhearted Chinese people. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] As April 25^th Drew Near, Police Appeared as if Facing an Archenemy As April 25 was drawing near, [On April 25, 1999, ten thousand Falun Dafa practitioners peacefully appealed around Zhongnanhai, the government compound in Beijing] scores of fully armed police went on patrols day and night in the streets and main intersections of Beijing. They inexcusably and unlawfully interrogated pedestrians, as well as people in vehicles and taxies. When they suspected someone, those individuals were forcibly detained, which made everyone feel unsafe. The pedestrians who were interrogated dared not say anything, though they were very angry. They criticized the despicable behavior of the police who treat citizens as enemies. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Increased Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Changchun City From April 16 to Teacher Li' birthday, [Mid-May] police in Changchun City have been increasing the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. Waiwu County was labeled as the key place. They hired an additional 5,000 people to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Moreover, the director of the Residential Committee in Luu' District went house to house and required every Falun Dafa practitioner to fill out a form. Every practitioner was requested to "claim" to give up the practice of Falun Dafa. The same activity was also carried out in Kuancheng District on April 10. [Shuangliu County, Sichuan Province] Practitioners in Shuangli County Were Persecuted; A "Prodigal Son" Who Became A Good Person Now Leads A Homeless Life The Huayang town local police (Shuangliu County), and personnel from the local government illegally fined every practitioner 2,000 to 5,000 Yuan for going to appeal for Falun Dafa in Beijing. Practitioners were illegally detained, sent to labor camps, and sentenced to jail. Several practitioners were repeatedly detained, on many occasions, and were forced to attend a "transformation class" [classes where Falun Gong practitioners are forced to renounce their belief in Falun Dafa]. The longest-held class has already been in session for over two months. From July 1999, government officials of Pengzhen town in Shuangliu County unlawfully fined every practitioner who kept on practicing Falun Dafa. A widowed senior was fined 15,000 Yuan [about $1,875; $25 is the average monthly income in rural China] for practicing Falun Dafa. Another practitioner was fined 16,000 Yuan. A practitioner who began to cultivate 3 days before "April 25" (the day of the Zhongnanhai incident) was forced to turn in 1,000 Yuan as a "deposit." Others were fined 5,000 to 8,000 Yuan respectively. Practitioners' identification cards were confiscated. Property belonging to the families of more than 170 practitioners was impounded. The local government extorted the "fines" by threatening to ransack the practitioners' homes and sentence them to detention centers and labor camps if the payments were not made. Recently, the practitioner who began Falun Dafa practice three days before "April 25" was lured out of his home and detained without due process of law. He was beaten up in the police office, but he managed to escape. The police, however, later confiscated 13 barrels of gasoline worth more than 10,000 Yuan from his home. Police officers also detained his mother, wife, and brother. His brother was beaten up and illegally detained for 11 days. Before attaining the Fa [the law and principles of the universe], this person often stole and even used heroin. He suffered from a strange disease that caused him to vomit every morning. Later, under his father' instructions, he began to practice Falun Dafa. Due to practicing Falun Dafa, his father had recovered from hyperthyroidism. This new practitioner has now become a good person. However, in order to have a chance to continue to practice Falun Dafa and remain good persons, the father and son were both forced to leave home, become destitute, and wander about. [Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province] For Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners and Their Relatives, Wuyi County Police Receive an Award Wuyi County Police illegally detained two sisters, practitioners Zheng Xuhong and Zheng Weihong, who clarified the truth about Falun Dafa. The sisters wrote truth-clarifying letters to the general population. Because of this, they were sent to Moganshan Labor Camp to serve 2 years of forced labor. The previous report on Minghui Net stating that they were sentenced to 2 years imprisonment was incomplete. Actually, the police beat them up and tried to sentence them to more than 10 years imprisonment, but the prosecutor refused to pursue them for their activities. But the police did not stop there. They even illegally detained the sisters' parents and Zheng Weihong' mother-in-law several times. Their mother, now retired, was a senior teacher in a primary school where she was well known and respected for her diligent work. Her good deeds were once even broadcast over the county radio station. These days, the police have no respect and even persecute seniors in their 60s or 70s. The police detained these good people, put them in iron cages several times, and beat them. For this shameful, illegal and inhumane behavior, the Jinhua City Public Security Department rewarded the police personnel in Wuyi County by issuing them a "Grade 1 Award." Then the police became even more aggressive. They claimed they would incriminate the practitioners' relatives. The sisters' brother, Zheng Xujun, is also a Dafa practitioner. He was a good student, who had already been admitted to a Ph.D graduate student program. He was dismissed by his university and, because of continuing to practice Falun Gong, lives the life of a homeless person. We call on all kind-hearted people to pay attention to the vicious persecution in China. [Beijing] Beijing Practitioners were Sent to Liangxiang [suburb of Beijing] for "Transformation" Another round of "transformation" has begun in Beijing. Falun Dafa practitioners whose personal information has been recorded and whose names appear on lists will be sent to Liangxiang by stages and in groups. Those who write the "guarantee letter" [renouncing their belief in Falun Dafa] will be released. Those who don' will be directly sent to labor camps. A more intense, more cruel crackdown has begun. The police now arrest people directly at home. Many practitioners are unable to bear the persecution and have to leave their homes, become destitute, and wander about as homeless persons. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province] Eleven Practitioners, Using Due Process of Law, Sued Their Persecutors and Were Arrested Recently, eleven Dafa practitioners from Nonghe Town, Tonghe County of Helongjiang Province, used their constitutional rights and, through normal procedures, filed a lawsuit against the local police, protesting their illegal conduct toward Falun Dafa practitioners. Since such conduct violates the Chinese constitution, they exercised their rights and approached the local Ministry of Justice, observing the letter of the law. But instead of having their case heard in court, the local police sent all these practitioners to prison and tortured them while handcuffed and in shackles. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] The Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Shangdong Province Women' Labor Camp in Jinan City According to a reliable source, close to six hundred Falun Dafa practitioners are being held in the Shangdong Province Women' Labor Camp (20 Jiangshuiquan Road, Jinan City.
