[Clearwisdom.net] Recently, Mr. Cyril Bouyeure, an official of the French Foreign Minister's Office, wrote a letter on behalf of the Foreign Minister to the French Falun Dafa Association, expressing France's firm stand in condemning the Chinese Government's Persecution of Falun Gong. The following is a partial content of the letter.

Foreign Minister Department, France

Office of Minister

Technical Consultant, Paris

February 21, 2001

Dear Mr. [name withheld],

Our minister received your letter requesting support for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China and asked me to give you a reply.

France always strongly condemns China's persecution of Falun Gong, in which Falun Gong practitioners can be the victims of such human rights violation actions. She and her European country fellows are very concerned about the new round of intensified persecution since last autumn.

In the conclusion of the general affairs committee meeting on January 22, 2001, European Committee Ministers raised their concern. The document of the European Committee points out that in the area of seeking progress through European-Chinese human rights dialogue, contents should cover that China should respect the basic human rights of the jailed people, including those arrested people who belong to political opponents, non-official religious movements, or similar movements such as Falun Gong.

The European-Chinese Human Rights Dialogue that will be held in Stockholm at the end of February will be an opportunity to raise the awareness of what the Chinese government has committed in violating the Chinese citizens' human rights when persecuting Falun Gong. It will also be an opportunity of widely calling on the Chinese government to respect freedom of thinking, freedom of speech, and freedom of association.

We promise that the French government will continue to make an effort in calling on the Chinese government to respect all the Chinese citizens' basic freedoms.

Best Regards,

Cyril Bouyeure
