Since the middle of last October, Jiang Zemin and his followers deceived the people nation and world by the, so called, "unification, education and transformation" of Falun Gong practitioners. The truth is, their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners went further and became even more brutal. The following are some examples:
1. More and more Falun Gong practitioners have been sent to Drug Detoxification Centers. Since the middle of last December, many practitioners from all over Heilongjiang Province have been transferred to Harbin Drug Detoxification Center, where they were isolated from the outside and forced to transform (be brainwashed). It was said that more than 10 people were sent there at first. Due to the tight blocking of messages, it is not yet known what was carried out to force the "transformation". Another 20 people also were transferred there from Shuanghe Women's Labor Camp in Qiqihaer on about December 20.
A new policy was recently issued by the Ministry of Public Security which permits arresting Falun Gong practitioners and sending them to the prisons at any time. By this policy, Qiqihar Police Department detained over 30 Falun Gong practitioners on January 18, 2001. They were sent to Harbin Drug Detoxification Center at about 9 am on January 18. According to some relatives who visited there, although the practitioners had been there for only a few days, they looked very pale and weak, with blurry vision and incoherent speech. It seemed the center had turned ordinary people into fools.
2. According to an internal notice in the Ministry of Public Security, "There is a reward of 1000 yuan (about $140, roughly two months' income of an average worker in China) for catching one practitioner". On the other hand, if a policeman cannot work "up to the standard", he will be fired. Under this threat, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners went further. Some even arrested regular tourists on Tiananmen Square, just to get the award. A lady in her 40's was touring Tiananmen Square when a young man in plain clothes came up to her and asked, "Is Falun Gong good?" The lady looked at him and answered casually, "Yes, Falun Gong is good." Upon hearing this, the young man dragged her into Tiananmen Police Substation. Shortly after that, he received the award of 1000 yuan.
Two practitioners were both sanitation workers for Daqing Petroleum Administrative Department. One day, they had a short chat during the break. Because of this, they were sent to a police subdivision for the false charge of so-called "meeting and colluding
3. Daqing Petroleum Administrative Department extorted a huge amount of fines from Falun Gong practitioners. Every practitioner had to pay 10,000 yuan (about $1,200). A practitioner sued in court. The judge said, "The Supreme Procurator has an order that no cases related to Falun Gong can be accepted." Thus, Falun Gong practitioners have no place to state and redress the injustice they had received. The basic rights granted by the constitution and other laws were denied . Another example was thatof an employee from the No. 1 Oil Plant in Daqing who went to Beijing to appeal in early May. He was fined more than 20,000 yuan (about $2,400) by Daqing Petroleum Administrative Department. It was said that this money would pay for the travel expenses of the people who had been sent to Beijing to bring the practitioners back. This employee was then detained and his salary has been stopped since then. Even more, every practitioner who had been to Beijing or detained was fined, ranging from 8,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan ($960 to $2,400). Plus, all their salaries were stopped; not even living costs were given. This is the true story of "unification, education and transformation" authorized by Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and their followers.
