I want to extend my personal congratulations to the practitioners of Falun Gong here in the United States and around the world as you join together in Los Angeles.

As Americans, we cherish the freedoms we have to engage in free speech, practice our religious beliefs and assemble together as we choose. Too often we forget how often these activities are not so easily done by our fellow humans around the globe. Those who do so at great personal risk are to be commended for their sacrifice and internal fortitude.

Together let us all hope that the day will soon come when the rights of individuals everywhere, given to us by God, will be respected and all people everywhere will have the freedoms and basic human rights which this country strives so hard to achieve.

It is through the leadership of people such as Congressman Tom Lantos that we in the United States say to the rest of the world, We Hold These Truths To Be Self Evident, That All Humans Are Endowed by Their Creator with Certain Inalienable Rights, and that failure to respect these rights is contrary to the principles for which all Americans stand.
