Dear Ms. [name witheld],
Thank you for your letter on November 9, telling me about your and your fellow students creation of a Falun Gong Practice and Information Club at Boston University. I am pleased to hear about your initiative.
The Chinese government's arrests of Falun Gong practitioners and its attempts to suppress the movement are deeply disturbing. I strongly support the efforts of Boston University students to raise public awareness of this persecution and to use other non-violent means to promote human rights in China. You end your letter by asking me to bring these human rights concerns to the attention of Chinese scholars, university leaders and adminisrators. I assure you that I will, and I wish the members of the Falun Gong Practice and Information Club every success in this important campaign for freedom of conscience and the right to peaceful religious expression.
Yours sincerely,
Jon Westling
