Letter Of Support from the Brock University Students' Union (BUSU)

Dear fellow Universities and Colleges,

This letter is written on behalf of the Brock University Students' Union, representing over 11,500 students at Brock University, St. Catharines.

It has come to our attention that millions of Falun Dafa practitioners in China are currently in a very serious situation. Because they practice a mind and body cultivation system called Falun Dafa and believe in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, the core principles to which Falun Dafa is based, they are fired from their jobs, expelled from schools and dragged from their homes to be beaten, raped, electrocuted, harassed and tortured. All because of the insecure and corrupt President of China who has stated, "Use all means necessary to exterminate Falun Gong or it will be seen as a major weakness to the XX Party", millions of innocent people now face persecution and so far over 300 men, women and children have been confirmed dead in police custody-- although sources say the actual number is over 1,000.

However, Outside of China, Falun Dafa is honoured and praised. It has received over 1000 proclamations and congratulatory letters from government officials from around the world and hundreds of thousands of signatures from people calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. In addition, the founder of Falun Dafa, Mr. Li Hongzhi, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for two consecutive years. Here at Brock University the peaceful cultivation practice of Falun Dafa has been offered by volunteers to students absolutely free of charge for nearly a year now. The persecution of these peaceful people in China by their own government is a shame.

Falun Dafa practitioners in China have shown the world that even in the face of horrendous suppression, one can determine who one wants to be. Through their courage, sacrifices and persistence, they have reminded many of us what it means to have faith. As such, they have demonstrated the true meaning of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance in all their actions. These actions are what have won the hearts of millions around the world.

One student from the Falun Dafa Club at Brock will walk in order to bring more awareness to this issue. She will join the Global "SOS: Urgent Call- Rescue the Falun Dafa Practitioners Persecuted in China" Earth Walk, which is happening at this moment around the world, by walking from one University to another for five consecutive days. The schools she will visit will be Brock, MacMaster, U of T and Ryerson.

We support her heart-felt effort to raise awareness among students and we ask you to join with us to make our voice to the President of China stronger, "Stop the persecution of Falun Dafa in China". Falun Dafa teaches the universal principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance -- the shared universal principles of all human beings. We all have a responsibility to safeguard such principles and ensure that they are not violated by any governments or individuals.

Please help to raise awareness among your students and show your support in every way possible. Please help stand and protect justice and goodness in our society so our future generations will know what principle and virtue means.
