[Southwest China] Practitioners from a City in Southwest China Have Put More Effort Telling the Truth of Dafa
After reading Master Li's lecture from the Great Lakes Conference in North America, practitioners in a city of southwest China came out to clarify the truth. Even the practitioners who before had always been staying at home came to realize the truth and join the active practitioners to validate Dafa.
After December 20, a great number of eye-catching Dafa banners were put up or painted on outdoor walls, utility poles on many streets as well as the tops of bridges in the city. Many people received the truth flyers, with different contents.
In the morning of December 24, on the wall of the building across the street from City Hall at the main street, there were rows of large characters painted in bright red: "When all warped beings are experiencing endless disasters, Dafa offers salvation in the disordered world; when the right is not distinguished from the evil and the heavenly law is slandered, the evil awaits for the autumn wind." Many people who passed by were attracted and paused to read. From 8am to 9am, several TV news agencies were busy photographing the scene. A group of policemen dispersed the crowd, which had gathered around while the officers tried to erase the paintings. However, the meaning of the words could still be recognized clearly afterwards. The policemen had to cover up the red-painted characters with newspapers and tape.
On the night of December 24, some of the students at each university were lucky to receive the "floppy diskettes" that promote Dafa. More students received the truth materials.
On the morning of December 25, after the carnival at Christmas Eve, people saw the Falun Dafa banners on the street again.
[Hebei Province] About a Thousand Banners Appeared on the Big Trees
In the early morning on December 20, more than 900 banners appeared on the big trees along the streets of a city in Hebei Province. More and more Dafa practitioners stepped out of their homes and participated in the powerful tide of telling the truth and rectifying the Fa. Practitioners put Falun Dafa banners at the most eye-catching places, using glue and paint.
Several Dafa practitioners were arrested during a few mass activities.
[Beijing]Tianamen Square
The author went to Tiananmen Square yesterday afternoon. The police cars and vans were scattered all over the place. There were small groups of 3 or 5 people around the light poles at Tiananmen Square. It seemed they were all waiting for something. They looked very nervous and were watching everyone.
The author arrived at the Tiananmen Gate Tower and saw a police van full of people of different ages with peaceful smiles on their faces. After a while, the policemen were pushing three persons who were passing by. A policeman nearby said: "There are lots of them, a van every 10 minutes!" Another policeman corrected him: "A van less than every 10 minutes!"
When I came out of Tiananmen Gate Tower, I saw two policemen carrying a woman while another policeman pushed her from the back. It looked as if she was holding a flag. The police pushed her rudely into the first black door under the Eastern
Watching Platform.
[Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ding Yan Detained in Taihang Prison
Many Dafa practitioners, including Ding Yan from Shijiazhuang City, with whom everyone is familiar, are detained in Baoding City's Taihang Prison. The guard police held many secret meetings to discuss how to persecute Ding Yan. However Ding Yan has been resisting all the evil forces. The police were frightened by her firm belief in Dafa.
The Dafa practitioners detained in Taihang Prison are all very firm in their Dafa belief and unshakable.

[Sanhe, Hebei Province] The Health Condition of Jia Xueyun Has Improved
Dafa practitioner Jia Xueyun, from Sanhe City, was sent home from hospital recently. She looked very thin after 100 days of hunger strike for validating Dafa. Her family hired a nurse to take care of her at home. Since her family members are not Dafa practitioners and they do not understand her, they do not allow any Dafa practitioner to visit. Currently, she can talk and her mind is clear. She is able to move her hands and feet, but she cannot sit up or take care of herself. It seems her life is not in danger any longer.

[Sanhe, Hebei Province] Harassment at the Middle and Elementary Schools
Currently, officials from Sanhe City require all students in the middle and elementary schools to declare their positions. These so called "people's teachers," are ignorantly destroying the minds and future lives of these students. They wrote the question "Whether Falun Gong is XX [slanderous words omitted]?" on the blackboard and asked each student to make their positions known. The truth flyers distributed by practitioners at Sanhe City were collected by ignorant students from the elementary schools and handed in to their school's officials. Practitioners felt very sorry for them and are worried about whether these children could be in danger of having their future destroyed by those evils.
A teacher in an elementary school forced young Dafa practitioner Erlei to write the "pledge letter"; another young practitioner from Sanhe City Elementary School was forced by his teacher to stay at school in the evenings and scold the Master and Dafa.
However, those children who have obtained the Fa are remarkable. Gao Fan (pseudonym), a high school student, was forced by school officials to declare his position. He would not be allowed to continue his schooling if he take the position in favor of Dafa. His teacher asked him if he would like to go to school. He said yes. The teacher then asked him whether he would like to continue on Falun Dafa or school. He said: I choose Falun Dafa.
Young Dafa practitioner Xin Ran, 14 years old; Xin Fei, 13 years old, both are freshman students of a middle school. They went to Beijing with their mother, Gao Shuying, to validate Dafa on December 16 and were detained at Fangshan County [Beijing]. Xin Ran was slapped, pinched, and beaten on her buttocks with stick by the Fangshan police. They tried to force her to tell them their address. Three days later, the sisters were brought back to their school by the local (X-yang street) policemen from Sanhe City. The principal sent someone to watch them and forced them to write the "pledge letter". Later, their aunt wrote a pledge letter for them and took them home. The school claimed that it was not yet done. Their mother, Gao Shuying, was on a hunger strike and was released on December 22.
Their father's name is Xin Baodong. Whenever it come time to sensitive dates, the police from the local (X-yang street) police station would take these children's parents into custody, for ten days or half a month. On November 28, Xin Baodong was arrested because he attended a small experience-sharing meeting. He has not been released since then. They have charged him with "attempting to overthrown the government."
[Hefei City, Anhui Province] Dafa Practitioners Persecuted in Anhui Architecture Industrial Institute.
From May 1999, the vice department leader Luu Changwei and team leader Hong Hou of Security Department in Anhui Architecture Industrial Institute began to disturb the Falun Gong group practice on the campus by confiscating the tape recorder and banner, menace practitioners and pressure the assistant at the practice site.
From October 1999 to July 2000, four undergraduate students, a teacher and an associate professor went to appeal in Beijing. The associate professor was detained in Female Detention Center of Hefei City. She was forcibly put into Hefei City No. 4 People's Hospital (a mental hospital), as she could not be "transformed." No one knows her whereabouts. Another teacher was forced to stop teaching. He had to report his activities daily. He was only given a minimum living pension. Later, he left school to avoid persecution. His whereabouts are not known. An undergraduate student was reported to higher officials twice for sending him to labor re-education, but it did not work. Later, he was expelled from school. Two undergraduate students were suspended for one year and they were required to provide the "guarantee letter" and the so-called "transformation certificate" to police officials. Another undergraduate student was also required to write the "guarantee letter", if he wanted to continue to attend classes.
Those teachers or students in the institute who went to appeal were forced to attend "Yicheng Education Class" in the suburb of Hefei City. The "education class" was a highly evil transformation class. Two security persons were on guard 24 hours a day, in both the male and female dorms. They did not let practitioners talk to each other. If practicing, practitioners would be beaten up or forced to stand on ice-cold ground. Practitioners slept on dry grass. They could not get enough to eat. They would not be allowed to have a bath in three months. Everyday, they had to read articles cursing Dafa, report their opinions and watch the faked videos. From 6am to 9:30pm, the loud speaker broadcasted the evil's lies. Practitioners were detained from one month to three months.

[Gai County, Liaoning Province] 32 Practitioners Detained
Thirty two Dafa practitioners were detained not long ago in Gai County of Liaoning Province. They were detained in Gai County Police Station Detention Center. The details are unknown. It is said that some practitioners have been on hunger strike for 5 days.
[Chenzhou City, Hubei Province] News December 24
Recently, the evils in Chenzhou City began to detain practitioners in large-scale in order to prevent practitioners from appealing. Lei Anxiang was seized at night when walking in street on December 20. Some practitioners were missing. Police knocked on the door of practitioner Li Meifang's home at 12pm on December 21. Her family did not open the door. They tried to break down the door and made a big noise in the neighborhood.
At 3pm on December 9, Dafa practitioner Guo Jian, Li Xiaojun was detained by plainclothes police when they were handing out the truth materials in Chenzhou City Normal Institute. Mr. Guo's family had to turn in 5,000 Yuan [about US $ 600, 10 month average wage] as an illegal fine to bail him out. Mr. Li was tied to an electric pole during a whole, freezing night. Now he is still detained in No. 2 Detention Center in Chenzhou City.
[Beijing] Disclosing Evil
I am a practitioner released from Haidian District Detention Center in Beijing. I witnessed the persecution and humiliation of Dafa practitioners.
These are the acts I witnessed about a practitioner from Shuangcheng County of Heilongjiang Province being beaten up: she was not permitted to sleep for four days and nights. Following that, she was interrogated. Three interrogators electrically shock on her face, hands, head and body with electric baton for 4 hours. She lost consciousness, due to the lengthy duration of the electric shock abuse. The interrogators were all tired. They were still saying, "It's just lucky you are this old. If you were young, we would undress you and put you into the male jail."
The facts about a female practitioner from Hubei Province being persecuted: A policeman locked her in a room. The young interrogator rode on her body and beat her into rolling. His hands even fumbled on her body. Her face was swollen and her body was covered with bruises all over from the vicious beating.
The facts about a female practitioner from Jilin Province being persecuted: One night in December, she was put into a detention center. The prisoners did not allow her to sleep for a whole night. The next morning, they undressed her and brought her to a ventilation room. They forced her to stand on one foot. They named the position as "golden cock standing on one foot." And then they poured cold water on her body and beat her with wet towel and slippers. The most evil thing they did was to use a tooth-brush and pushed it into her urethra. The guards mistreated her with the position called "flying plane"[a physical torture position], which was previously only used on criminals. The guards pressured the prisoners not to allow the practitioners to sleep and eat. So the criminals intensified the persecution of practitioners.

The facts about a female practitioner from Jiamusi City in Heilongjiang Province being persecuted: Her eyes were beaten to the point of swelling shut. Blood ran down around her eyes due to being pierced with ballpoint pen tips. Her face was disfigured. Prisoners choked her to suffocate her. Fortunately, other practitioners stopped the prisoners from succeeding at their cruel attempts. She was tortured for two days.

[Pingshan County, Hebei Province] Persecuting Practitioners in Chemical Fertilizer Factory
Since last "July 20th", there have been three practitioners who lost their jobs due to practicing Falun Dafa. Following is the detail.
Kang Ruizhu: He went to appeal in Beijing during the Spring Festival in 2000. He was fined 2000 Yuan and detained. Then he was expelled from work by the factory. He went to appeal again in October 2000 and has been in detention till now. His wife, Gao Wenfu, was not allowed to work. Their children were not allowed to go to school for 7 days.
An Sanqing, Wang Shuquan: In July 2000, the factory sent them to the police. After that, they were put into a detention center, fined 2000 Yuan and both were expelled from work due to Dafa cultivation.

[Pingshan County, Hebei Province] Persecution in Dawu Town
Political and law-enforcement officials of Dawu Town government have been persecuting Dafa Practitioners since July 20, 1999. The town government forced about 60-70 practitioners to attend the re-education class and illegally forced them to hand in fines ranging from 150 Yuan to 300 Yuan.
This year, the Town Government held another re-education class, which was essentially illegal detention. One class lasted 3 days and 3 nights; the longest one lasted 5 days and 5 nights. And at last, the practitioners were fined and released. Li Yuanhai and Li Shouwo, who insisted on practicing, were sent to Zengshan Detention Center. They were detained one month and forced to hand over fines.

On July 19, 2000, the town government once again detained some practitioners five days and five nights. They cheated practitioners to the town government, from home and farming field. In the afternoon of July 20, town party secretary Hou Tongxiao leading a group of evil people searched these practitioners' homes. The vice town director Lu Sufang, who is in charge of politics and law-enforcement, said, "The central government means to crack down on you; you won't be comfortable."
The town government confiscated the following:

Feng Sihai: a tractor and two bicycles;
Zhang Yintong: an electrical plane [a tool for smoothing wood];
Mi Xinqin: a TV set, a noodle machine, and a pushcart.

[Xinji City, Hebei Province] Persecution in Jiucheng Town
During the Oct. 1 National Holiday, there were several Dafa practitioners went to Beijing to safeguard Dafa.
On Oct. 2, the town government called some roughnecks together to beat practitioners cruelly. They used sticks and shoe soles, and forced practitioners to lie on the ground, face down, with hands and feet touching the ground and bodies arched up to make it easier for the thugs to beat the practitioners. Practitioners with the last name of Zhou, together with Jia Jihua, and Zhang Shushen, fainted during the beatings. After being beaten, the practitioners were forced to sign the repentance letter that defamed Dafa and Teacher. In addition, practitioners were fined for "going to Beijing to make trouble." The fines were at least 5000 Yuan. The leading practitioners were fined even heavier.
From Oct. 3 to Oct. 20, there was the so-called "centralized transformation," arranged by the town government. Later on, Xinji City government ordered that all practitioners who had been to Beijing before should be detained. On October 16, the town government locked up practitioners in a garage without any legal procedures. Due to carrying Dafa books, practitioners Zheng Sanzhuan, Qiao Xia and Zhang Lingling were fined. Their fines ranged from 1000 Yuan to 3000 Yuan. They were also detained for 10 days. The town government set up documents for every practitioner, and forced them to fill out forms (otherwise the practitioners wouldn't be released). Practitioners were forced to fill out a three-party-guarantee: relatives, 2 or more neighbors, and village cadres who shall be responsible if the practitioner "makes trouble." Every practitioner was forced to hand in 4000 Yuan bail before they got released. And they still have to report daily to town government. From November 9, the town government had gathered all the practitioners who were to receive the so-called "disengagement." The persecution is still going on by the time this article is being written.
The officially arrested practitioners in this town are: Jia Jihua, Liu Tiao, Liu Boqiang, and Jia Xingfen.
[Xinji City, Hebei Province] Latest City Government Document Regarding Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners
Xinji City government formally released "City Government Document (2000) #34 " recently, and is planning how to persecute Falun Gong practitioners further. They brought forward a guideline "Zhuan Hua, Kong Zhi, Da Ji" [Transform, Control, Suppress], with regards to practitioners who meet the following criteria:
- Had been sent to labor camps, arrested or sentenced before
- Had been to Beijing to appeal before, went to Beijing during and after National Day.
- Organized, called on or persuaded others to go to Beijing.
- Went to Beijing several times or being assistants for Falun Dafa.
- Downloaded, copied, printed and distributed Dafa materials.
- Refused to be transformed.
Be deprived of membership if he or she is a member of the XX Party; be expelled from work if he or she is civil clerk; be expelled if he or she is a government official; be fired if he or she works in an enterprise; be deprived of retirement pension and all political and economical rights if he or she is retired. In order to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing again, they will hold transformation classes during New Year Holiday; each village and town shall appoint its own personnel to be responsible for this matter.
