[Zhejiang Province] Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Huaijun, Peng Xiaodong and Su Min of the Second and Third Nuclear Industrial Construction Company in Haiyan, Zhejiang Province were detained at a detention center since November 14, 1999. All three were recently sentenced with two years of forced labor at Shiliping Labor Education Center in Longyou, Zhejiang. Su Min's family had looked for her before in the detention center while she was there. Su Min was later released. Because she exposed the illegal conduct of the police at the detention center, she was arrested and sent directly to the Labor Camp afterwards.

[Beijing] Since July 22, 2000, Dafa practitioners in Changping County persisted in practicing Falun Dafa and telling the truth to the government. They continued to appeal to the government demanding the correction of the wrongful labelling (of Falun Gong) and to restore the reputation of Falun Gong. There have been several hundred practitioners detained by Changping Police Substation and dozens of practitioners sentenced to the Labor Camp since last September.
In order to create an environment for their cultivation, Dafa practitioners were frequently persecuted by the police in detention centers. The following are a few examples:
1. Freezing practitioners outdoors in severe winter -- On January 10, 2000, Dafa practitioners sitting on benches practiced meditation to show their innocence. Guard Liu Qiming ordered more than 30 female practitioners to go outdoors and stand for two hours in the shade after taking off their quilted clothes and shoes (some practitioners had only one thin woolen sweater on). He even ordered male criminal offenders to dismantle the metal buttons, zippers, and air holes on their quilted clothes and shoes. Because of this, some of the clothes and shoes were made unusable. The guards wore quilted overcoats and yelled with their hands inside their pockets: "Whoever gives up practicing can go back indoors." Dafa practitioners faced all of this torture by smiling calmly.
2. Law-enforcement personnel willfully humiliated female practitioners -- On January 20, 2000, during a jailhouse search, female guard Liu Xiaobin incited criminal offenders in the 25th jailhouse to whip practitioners using their shoes, tear their quilted clothing, shoes and sportswear into pieces, and throw away their toilet paper. All of their belongings were scattered about in a mess. The female practitioners were forced to stand there naked in the presence of male guards and food deliverers. Some female practitioners reflexively covered their chest with their sweaters, which were also then taken away by the fellow inmates. A male guard passing by the 25th jailhouse felt this was too cruel to watch and said, "They (the female guards) are indeed doing this without restraint."
3. Law-enforcement personnel violating the law instead of enforcing the law -- At Changping Detention Center, in an attempt to prevent practitioners from practicing cultivation, female guard Liu Xiaobin ordered the criminal offenders in each jailhouse to watch the practitioners. She threatened that, if the practitioners were found practicing, the other inmates would receive the same corporal punishment as the practitioners, and their terms of imprisonment would be extended. Thus, the other female inmates vented all their resentment on the practitioners. They beat and yelled at practitioners whenever they found the practitioners doing exercises. In addition, they also extorted money, clothes and other belongings from Dafa practitioners.
