Recently some Singapore practitioners started using a method to promote Dafa (the Great Law), which fits local residence very well. They inserted packages containing Dafa materials into residents' mailboxes. Practitioners gradually prepared and sent out 120,000 packages in their spare time and received good feedback. Some residents called to inquire about the truth of Falun Dafa, and some wanted to learn. More and more practitioners have been participating in this activity. The following are the experiences from a practitioner gained during the course of promoting Dafa.
A practitioner suggested earlier that we could put Dafa materials into mailboxes. Some practitioners agreed but some opposed. I didn't participate in it until some time later. I have learned a lot through this experience, which I would like to share with you.
Some practitioners said that we should not randomly put Dafa-related materials into mailboxes; some said that the materials delivered would later be discarded or torn apart. Despite the different opinions, delivering materials to mailboxes to tell people the truth of Falun Dafa continued. This later became an interlude in my cultivation.
In Singapore, people are used to send out advertisements, as well as information on community activities and to people by mail. Therefore it fits the law at the human level to deliver materials regarding the truth of Falun Dafa to mailboxes. We could see different reactions from the people towards Dafa. The existence of positive creates negative, when there are supporters, there must be rejecters. From my understanding, this is the "inter-generation and inter-inhibition."
Up to today, we have distributed 120,000 copies of introductory materials of Falun Dafa into mailboxes. Another 30,000 copies are currently in print. I joined this activity during the third reprint. That day we inserted materials into envelopes (the factory was short of hands, so we had to do it by ourselves). We arrived at the factory in the early morning along and divided our duties. The entire working area was filled with harmony. That day we prepared 40,000 packages.
Upon leaving, Thoughts of an ordinary person started to appear. I worried that I would have to take 20,000 packages home and there were only 4 people at our practice site, when could we finish distributing these 20,000 packages? In addition, we had to seal the envelopes to prevent the materials from falling out. In order to send out the materials on time, I hoped to finish the distribution in one day. We called some practitioners, who live at both the north and west areas of the city, to come help. Because everyone had his or her own materials to distribute, no one was able to come. At that time, my heart was filled with worries, fear, and anxiety. At that time, I came to realize that cultivation takes more than one day, and so do our jobs. We should let the nature take its course, and do as much as we can today.
After I let go of my attachments, the productivity became higher. A practitioner made a copy of the local map and posted it on the wall. Another practitioner made some glue out of flour. Using a brush, over one hundred envelops were sealed at one time. We also bought a small cart to carry the materials. We distributed them in the morning, and sealed more envelopes in the afternoon. Sometimes there was only one practitioner in the afternoon. Whenever we worried that we could not have enough sealed envelopes for the next day, there would always be someone coming to help us.
During the process of distributing materials, we encounter all kinds of tribulations. We all realized that those were tribulations in our cultivation and were used to measure our actions. We distributed over 20,000 packages to over 200 apartment complexes in a total of eight days. After receiving our materials, some residents called to express their interest in learning Falun Gong, so we set up another practice site. I was deeply moved by one incident: touched by our devotion to Dafa, the owner of a printing factory, who was not a practitioner, helped us with our tasks. He even printed extra materials for free.
I owe my thanks to the Chinese practitioners in the west part of Singapore for this experience and for helping me step out of my house. They have shown me their selfless and sincere hearts toward Dafa. They didn't stop promoting Dafa even when they were facing all kinds of pressure. My actions were weak in comparison. I had been hiding at home for my own cultivation. In this process from stepping out of my house and to participating in the promotion of Dafa, I found my attachments and I have upgraded my xinxing (the nature of the mind) to a higher level. These would be impossible to gain if I had stayed home.
