The parliament of the United Kingdom is paying close attention to a report on the current status of human rights in China that was submitted by the Human Rights in China organization. It is also reviewing its China policy regarding human rights.

On July 28, 2000, Human Rights in China submitted to the Foreign Ministry of the UK a report on the current status of human rights in China. This report describes in detail the brutal crackdown and persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government over the past year, including many cases involving prison terms, labor camps, massive arrests, detention in mental hospitals, corporal punishment, and torturing practitioners to death. Human Rights in China urged the UK government to make further efforts to improve the current status of human rights in China, and it was "pleased to know that the UK Foreign Ministry is now reviewing its China policy with regard to human rights."
