According to the news from a prison in China, the detained practitioners were cruelly tortured for practicing Falun Gong in jail. Because the jailed practitioners made many convicted criminals become believers of Falun Dafa, the authorities felt very nervous. For fear that more prisoners might become practitioners of Falun Gong, they decided to transfer practitioners into single cells. The guards were all clear that the practitioners of Falun Gong were all good people.
[Chongqing]
Mr. Liu Yalin, 53, is a former employee of the Yongchuan Transportation Company of Chongqing City. He was a former contact person of the practice site of Dadukou District of Chongqing City.
Starting from July 21, 1999, the police detained him in the Dadukou Sports Hotel for seven days, but failed to "transform" him. Not long after he was released, he was detained again for three days because he practiced Falun Gong exercises outdoors. In September 1999, he was forced to attend the so-called "study class" held by Yongchuan Transportation Company. Because Mr. Liu was very determined about his belief and kept telling the so-called "educators" in the "study class" the true facts about Falun Gong, he was regarded as a "backbone element," and transferred to the Yongchuan Drug-Stopping Center for 15 days of detention.
Facing the escalating persecutions, Mr. Liu never gave in, and he always kept the heart of great benevolence and forbearance. He was later detained in the Dadukou Detention Center. 15 days later, he was bailed out by his family members.
June 24, 2000, Mr. Liu lost his job for continuing to practice Falun Gong. Liu went to Beijing the very next day to appeal for Falun Gong. On June 30, 2000, he was escorted back and was later detained for 30 days. In early August, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor without trial.
There were also another two female practitioners who were sentenced together with Mr. Liu. The detailed information will be reported separately. They were also sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Mr. Li Honggao, in his 30s, was an employee of the Fuxing Factory of Steel Doors. He was detained in early August for spreading Falun Gong materials. He is still in custody.
[Mudanjiang]
Since this June, the police have set up many passes on the roads and train stations in order to prevent practitioners from visiting each other or going to Beijing to appeal. The police often forced passengers to curse the Teacher (of Falun Dafa). Those who refused would be interrogated, and would be arrested if they were believed to be Falun Gong practitioners.
In the Second Detention Center of Mudanjiang City, the police have been cruelly persecuting detained practitioners. If practitioners were found to practice Falun Gong exercises, they would be "fixed" by the shackles. When practitioners went on hunger strikes, the police did not care about their lives at all. Practitioners often suffered a cruel torture called "roping". The police also withheld the money sent to the practitioners by their family members.
The following are some cases of persecutions against practitioners.
1. Cao Yingchun, female, in her 40s, from Mudanjiang. Her family phone number is 011-86-453-6692691. Since July 22, 1999, she has gone to Beijing seven (or eight) times to appeal for Falun Gong. Encouraged by her, dozens of practitioners have gone to Beijing to appeal. At first, she was detained in the Harbin Forced Labor Team, and later, she was bailed out. After that, she was detained several times. To defend her rights to practice Falun Gong exercises and study Falun Dafa books, she staged hunger strikes in the cell. Shaken by her courage and determination, the detention center had to send her home for fear of her influence on other detained practitioners. When she was released, she hosted fellow practitioners to share experiences and opinions at her home, and encouraged them to stand out to defend Falun Dafa. Her courageous acts angered the communist official who was in charge of persecuting Falun Gong. After she was escorted back from Beijing for the last time, four police officers stayed at her home monitoring her 24 hours a day, while enjoying themselves by playing Majiang (a Chinese card game). Later, they took her away secretly. Her whereabouts is unknown. It was said that she had been brutally tortured by police.
2. Sun Long, male, 22, a college student in Shenyang Industrial University. His home address is Hualin Town of Mudanjiang City. Because he refused to write the repentance, he was sent to a psychiatric hospital. During the two months of his detention, he was forced to take medicines and injections (including anaesthesia), which inflicted great mental and physical damages on him. His number is 011-86-453-6302756)
3. The Mudanjiang Labor Camp has adopted many horrible means to force the detained practitioners to recant. The police did not allow practitioners' family members to visit their loved ones. They examined practitioners' personal letters illegally, and they blocked all the connections to the outside world. The police claimed that they were implementing the government documents, which should overrule the constitution. The police did not give practitioners' enough food. During the April of 2000, they required practitioners to run 100 circles of the 300-meter track, in the name of "military practice." Some practitioners fainted during the running. The police prohibited the family members of practitioners to buy food for them. They ordered the convicted criminals to beat practitioners.
4. Jiang Chunmei, famle, a teacher of the Mudanjiang Normal School. Her address is the Dorm of the Normal School. Ms. Jiang was arrested by the political and security team of the Hailin police station for spreading Teacher's new articles. She suffered brutal tortures while being interrogated. Her family members and friends were not allowed to visit her. Currently, Ms. Jiang is detained in Hailin Detention Center, and she has lost her contact with outside for one month. Because Jiang's husband had been sentenced to three years of forced labor last year, there was nobody to take care of her child. Her number is 011-86-453-6511236.
5. Cao Limei, female, a practitioner from Mudanjiang City, is being detained in the Wanjia Labor Camp of Harbin City. On July 20, 2000, she was arrested by the Xianglun Police Station of Mudianjiang City. During the four days of detention, the police tortured her with the so-called "roping". At first, one rope was used. Later, three ropes were used. Mr. Cao lost her consciousness three times. Each time, the police poured cold water on her in order to make her regain consciousness, so that they could continue the inhumane tortures. Her number is 011-86-453-6595004.
6. Since last November, the female practitioners detained in the second detention center of Mudanjiang City staged several hunger strikes to defend their rights to practice their beliefs. The police ordered many convicted criminals to force-feed practitioners. Many practitioners suffered injuries in their mouths because of the brutal force-feeding. The criminals force-fed the food into the lungs of several practitioners, who had to be rushed to hospital for emergency treatments.
7. On September 13, 1999, practitioners from Mudanjiang City, Ning Jun, Fu Ying, Liu Kun, and Zhang Li etc., were arrested in Beijing where they were attempting to appeal for Falun Gong. On the way of taking practitioners back to Mudanjiang City, the two police officers from the Dongning County Police Station and another two police officers from the Hailin County Police Station robbed practitioners of 150,000 Yuan. This was only one example of the robberies committed by the communist officials against practitioners. During the year-long crackdown on Falun Gong, many communist officials from the City leaderships to the officers of local police stations regarded the handling of Falun Gong cases as a good opportunity to make a fortune.
In Mudanjiang City, at least 60-70 practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor.
