Falun Gong Practitioners Delivered Open Letter to National People's Congress through Email [Chinese News Net, March 4, 2000]
Recently, Falun Gong practitioners have attempted to deliver "An open letter to the National People's Congress (NPC)" and some other petition letters to the Standing Committee of the NPC through the Web page of the NPC.
In the "open letter", it stated that in the past half year, there had been quite a few practitioners tortured to death for refusing to give up their beliefs in Falun Gong; numerous practitioners had been removed from their posts, expelled from party. Many had their water and power supplies at home cut off.
The "open letter" urged this annual session of NPC to address the concern that Falun Gong practitioners' freedom of belief had been seriously violated. The letter also urged the session to form a team to investigate the facts about Falun Gong.
It was said that this open letter had been delivered to the Standing Committee of NPC through email after over ten thousand signatures having being collected.
Since last July when Falun Gong was labeled as a "cult", Falun Gong practitioners have been appealing to the authorities persistently. However, their petitions have been refused, moreover, many of them have been detained or even sentenced.
Not long ago, when the Premier Zhu Rong-ji visited the Petition Offices of the Central Committee and The State Council, he instructed that the petitions should be paid close attention. The Standing Committee of NPC has also opened a Webpage to attract people's attention to this annual session of NPC.
Falun Gong practitioners' appealing letters have been delivered to the Standing Committee of NPC through the "Box for Suggestions" of this Webpage. However, their suggestions have all been deleted.
