1.[Beijing] Reporters Asked to Certify No Links with Falun Gong

The South China Morning Post reported on March 2 that the Chinese Authorities had asked mainland journalists covering the National People's Congress (NPC) to issue a letter of guarantee that they are not members of the banned Falun Gong group as surveillance was tightened up in Tiananmen Square before the annual meetings because that the central authorities were worried that Falun Gong practitioners had "infiltrated" all areas of society, including the media.


2.[Beijing] Practitioners under Intense Surveillance During the "Two Sessions"

Recently, police stations have put many practitioners living around the Asian Sports Village under close surveillance in order to prevent them from appealing during the two sessions, namely, the National People's Congress (NPC) Session and the Political Consultative Session. On average, 6 people take turns to monitor one practitioner 24 hours a day. Each time 2 people are on duty and work for 8 hours.

Moreover, many practitioners from Fang-shan District and other places in Beijing have been "invited" to the local police station for interrogation or detention for the same reason.


3.[Beijing] Some Appealing Practitioners Detained

Recently, some practitioners from Beijing have gone to the Petition Office of the National People's Congress to appeal. Some of them got detained.
