[Mei-zhou, Si-chuan Province] Ancient Cruel Tortures Adopted by Policeá

The Police Station of Mei-zhou tortured Falun Gong practitioners by inserting toothpicks into their nails. The police asked the practitioners, "Would you continue to practice Falun Gong?" while they were shaking the toothpicks. The practitioners did not give in.á

The Mei-zhou police station also adopted another ancient torture, clipping one's ten fingers and then pulling the strings to two sides to make the clip tighter and tighter that would make one feel extremely painful.á

Such cruel tortures could only be found in ancient China. But they were not able to bent practitioners' iron will.á

When the police of Mei-zhou City ransacked the practitioners' homes, they would take away their bankbook, cash and even small changes without any legal procedures.




[Beijing] A Practitioner from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Missing

It was reported that practitioner Li Hai has been missing since January 17 after having attempted to appeal to Mr. Annan during his visit in Beijing. It was said that Li Hai worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His parents have gone to Beijing from Shan-dong province to search for his whereabouts.á





[Mei-zhou, Si-chuan Province] 200 Practitioners Practiced in Park; Many Arrestedá

At 7am of February 26, about 200 practitioners from Mei-zhou City practiced Falun Gong in a park. There were kids, teenagers, and senior people in 50s and 60s. Ten minuets later, a dozen of police vans came, including two fire trucks with high-pressure fire hose. About 30 police officers were responsible for driving away and arresting practitioners. About 50 practitioners got arrested. Practitioners faced all these peacefully.á

For practitioners who continue to practice in the public areas, Mei-zhou government would detain them or sent them to labor camps as well as imposing each of them a fine of 3,000 Yuan. A 70 years old practitioner, who was a veteran, had his home ransacked, and his refrigerator and TV were taken away.

So far, 8 local practitioners have been sent to labor camps without trial.




[Shanghai] Practitioners Determined About Falun Dafa

Around the Chinese New Year, many practitioners from Shanghai have gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.á

It was said by a police officer that the number of appealing practitioners from Shanghai was in the top ten among all the cities in China. Some practitioners have started to practice Falun Gong in the park. Some practitioners dare to share the materials downloaded from the Internet with other practitioners. Some practitioners have withdrawn the pledge that they had been forced to make to their workplace or the police station before. Practitioners become more and more determined about Falun Dafa after exchanging experience with each other.




[Shandong Province] Practitioners Got Arrested for Signing the Appealing Letter

Recently, all those practitioners who signed the international human rights appealing letter or have gone to Beijing to appeal have been required to file a form to give up Falun Gong. Those who refused to do so would be removed from the party if they are party members and their apartments would be confiscated too. Their family members or guarantors would also be punished. In the countryside, Falun Gong practitioners in a household are to be guaranteed by another five households that they would not practice Falun Gong or go to Beijing to appeal. If any of them continues to practice Falun Dafa or goes to Beijing to appeal, each household will be fined for 5,000 Yuan.




[Beijing] Be Alert of Fake Articles

Recently, some people emailed two articles in the name of teacher Li to a lot of practitioners in China. These two articles were spreading in Beijing.á

Teacher Li has not published any new articles since July 22 of 1999.




[Shenzhen, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liu Tao Sent to Labor Camp

Liu Tao, a practitioner from Shenzhen City, went back to China after a business trip to India in last August. The police confiscated all the Falun Gong materials that he brought back from India. Later because he went to Beijing to appeal and practiced Falun Gong in public areas, he was detained for three times. In last November, he was given a sentence of three years of forced labor. Mr. Liu's parents have not received the original copy of the sentence even after repeat requests.
