[China] Dafa supporter distribute material
The director of a local residential office and representative of People's Congress, the non-practicing husband of a Falun Dafa practitioner, had read some Dafa materials and was moved by the content. With a righteous heart, he copied some material and asked his subordinates, also non-practitioners, to distribute them. One of these people was arrested and made a confession. As a result, the director himself was detained, and then placed on parole and is awaiting trial.
[Wuhan, Hubei Province] Wuhan officials intensify persecution of Dafa practitioners
After studying Master's article "Serious Teachings", more and more practitioners went out to validate Dafa. In order to detain practitioners from traveling to Beijing, the police employed despicable means of conduct.
- Police were dispatched at different train stations and main roads to inspect passengers and urged the practitioners to curse Dafa or the founder of Falun Gong. Those who would not curse were arrested and sent to police stations for interrogation. They confiscated Dafa practitioner's tickets, fined them 200 Yuan and put them into detention centers for one month. After detention, some practitioners, under guard, were sent to "re-education classes" until they would transform. Even seniors in there eighties would not be spared.
- Police detained some practitioners, without cause, for several timely crucial days to prevent them from traveling to Beijing.
- Practitioners who had been detained in detention centers were beaten once they practiced the exercises. These practitioners suffered and endured the "big board punishment", i.e. their hands, feet were handcuffed to a large wood board. This torture prevented them from moving at all, even while eating, drinking and relieving themselves. Some practitioners remained handcuffed to the board for several days.
- Practitioners sentenced to "labor education" in Wuhan were all put into Hewan Labor Camp. With increased pressure from higher government officials, the conditions and treatment of practitioners at the labor camp became much more evil. The demons attempted to force the transformation of practitioners by all kinds of illegal means. Those practitioners who had not written "guarantee letters" were denied visits from relatives. Many practitioners could not see their relatives for several months. Also the practitioners would be detained without knowing a time limit for detention. Some practitioners were detained from February this year (2000) until now. Those who insisted on practicing were severely mistreated.

Practitioner Hu Shenglian from Wuhan
In October 1999, Hu Shenglian, a practitioner in Wuhan, was detained for "transformation" at the Wuhan Police Recuperation Hospital. That month, due to her determination not to cooperate, she was transferred to No. 1 Female Detention Center in Wuhan City. Since she kept on practicing in her cell, the guards subjected her to the "noodle hanging" punishment. For 24 hours, they cuffed her hands to the cell door, in such a position that her feet would barely touch the ground. Then they back-handcuffed her for four days. In addition, since she refused to write the "guarantee letter" (a letter stating that she would no longer practice Falun Dafa if released), she was handcuffed to a large wooden board that made her practically immobile. She was forced this way to relieve her bowels through a hole in the board. This took place during the wintertime. Her only cover was a thin quilt. And, to make matters worse, this confinement on the board happened during the time of her menstrual period. When she was carried out of the room, she was extremely weak and smelled badly.
This April, Hu Shenglian was sentenced to two years in a labor camp and is still being detained at the No. 1 Female Detention Center of Wuhan City.
[Hengyang, Hunan Province] Information from Hengyang
Since they have been distributing and posting Dafa truth materials one month ago, Dafa practitioners Liu Chengcai, Liu Meixiang, Zou Shumei have been detained. Currently Liu Chengcai is detained at No. 2 Detention Center at Hengyang City. Liu Meixiang is detained at No.1 Detention Center. Zou Shumei is detained at Qidong County Detention Center. They were not intimidated by threats from the evil one there and insisted that they be released unconditionally. Liu Meixiang has been on a hunger strike.
[Nankang City, Jiangxi Province] Information from Nankang
Several Dafa practitioners were arrested after they went to appeal in late November. Some of them were sentenced to jail. Currently there is no further, detailed information on their conditions or whereabouts.
[Shiyan City, Hubei Province] The viciousness of the policemen at Sanyan police station in Shiyan City
The police illegally beat up Dafa practitioners and tried to extort confessions by using force. These policemen recklessly tread on the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, which guarantees free assembly. Often, during the interrogations, practitioners' hands were cuffed to their backs while they were being beaten . For several days, some of the practitioner couldn't even raise their hands at mealtime, some not even for more than ten days. The arms of the assistant of the Dafa assistance center in Shiyan City were dislocated due to being hung up. One practitioner fainted, due to the unbearable pain caused by the torture of 'backward hand cuff'. He was then awakened, by having policemen pour cold water on him. Under these extremely bad conditions, the practitioners were kept in custody exceeding their original detention terms. The practitioners were also fined a lot of money.
We are admonishing those inhuman and demonic policemen: Stop the torture immediately. The good will be rewarded with good, and the evil rewarded with evil. Eventually the day of revelation will come. Learn more about the truth of Dafa and stop serving Jiang Zemin by being his accomplices.
[Hubei and Hebei Provinces] Practitioners from Hubei and Hebei provinces were sent to labor camps
Falun Dafa practitioner Song Zhiqing from Huangshi City, Hubei province was arrested when he distributed and posted "the truth of Falun Gong" material. He is now detained and it is said he will be sent to a labor camp or even sentenced to jail. Song Zhiqing graduated from North Polytechnic University (in Beijing) in 1998. After his graduation, he volunteered to work in Huangshi City of Hubei Province, which is not a well-developed city. He worked at a state-run enterprise Huangshi Nonferrous Metal Machine Factory. He is a diligent young man who strives to be a better person. However, he was persecuted under the suppression carried out by Jiang Zemin.
On November 9, according to the news as reported on Xinji City TV in Hebei Province, eight practitioners including Zhou Chao who went to Beijing to appeal and speak out the truth of Falun Dafa during National Day were sentenced to labor camp for 2 to 3 years. Another 70-80 practitioners each were fined 1,000 to 10,000 Yuan.
Confronted with serious violations of freedom of belief and basic human rights, the local news agency did not condemn the viciousness. But, instead of upholding the righteousness as is the professional conduct expected from conscientious news reporter, they conspired with those who violated the law to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
[Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Lu Guiqin
The story of Lu Guiqin arrest, fines and indefinite illegal detention
Ms. Lu is a retired, 61 year old woman with a middle school level of education. She was employed by the Carbon Factory in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. In June of 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Dafa and consequently was detained for 15 days afterwards in the detention center at Honggu District Police Substation in Lanzhou City. She went to Beijing again in October 2000 and was arrested without cause by the police in Tiananmen Square. When she asked the policemen why she was arrested, the policeman actually told her: "We can release you if you curse someone." She was taken back again by the factory she used to work for and was detained for 15 days with the charge of disturbance of public order. She was detained twice and fined 3,000 Yuan by the factory. On November 14, 2000, nine policemen and guards, including five policemen from Qinghai Province, 2 policemen from Honggu District Police Substation and 2 security guards from the factory, suddenly broke into Lu Guiqin's home and searched her place unlawfully. They took Lu Guiqin into custody afterwards. Several days later, her family was informed that she had been detained indefinitely. Lu Guiqin is now detained in the detention center of Minhe County Police Station in Qinghai Province.
