[Belgium] A European Member of Parliament from Luxembourg called on Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji to urge the Chinese government to stop persecuting Zhao Ming: Mr. Jacques Santer, a European Member of Parliament from Luxembourg, sent an appeal letter to Mr. Zhu Rongji last week, urging the Chinese government to release Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Ming and to observe the "The United Nations' Anti-Torture Act" that the Chinese government signed in 1988. In his letter, Mr. Santer strongly requested that Mr. Zhu Rongji promise to carry out an independent investigation of the torments that Zhao Ming and other Falun Gong practitioners are experiencing, to punish all responsible parties and to protect Chinese citizens' right to express their own beliefs.
