I would like to thank you for your impartiality in your recent article on Falun Gong. I have rarely seen a journalist write about Falun Gong in such an informed manner and looking at both sides of the issue. However, I think that you have omitted something very important.
Among other things, the 68 deaths (if not more) and the thousands of abuse cases in labour camps and psychiatric hospitals. According to certain sources 18 female practitioners would have been stripped and placed in a cell with men, dangerous criminals. And this kind of story repeats itself over and over again. Every day we can read new cases of abuse. However, there is no mention of this brutal persecution, which can be confirmed by several media sources such as AFP and AP as well as human rights groups such as Amnesty International and the Information Centre for Human Rights and Democracy based in Hong Kong.
Let's not forget the Chinese government claimed that 1,600 deaths were caused. As we know, Chinese government fabricated a lot of them. Even if it was 1,600, think about it, 1,600 deaths on 2 million people in eight years. We can very well see that this is much lower than China's mortality rate, which situates itself at about 7 deaths per 1000 people per year. And that's using the amount of 2 million while just a few years ago, the Chinese government calculated the number of practitioners at about 70 million.
That the readers know this may change their opinion of Mr. Jin Zhenda and the Chinese embassy. It seems to me that the Chinese government should be qualified as being "anti-humanity, anti-science and anti-government." Indeed, while brutally persecuting harmless people, itself is violating the Chinese constitution while allows its citizens freedom of belief, assembly and to appeal to their government. It is the Chinese government that abuses Falun Gong practitioners in mental hospitals and has receive the criticism of the scientific community. One could ask himself who really is "anti-humanity, anti-science and anti-government."
I hope you can have a better overall picture of the situation that is taking place in China and what is Falun Gong. [...] Once again, I thank you for a very truthful article [...].
